The Rochester Women’s Giving Circle (RWGC) is a community of women who recognize that they have greater strength and potential for positive community impact when they give together. Our mission is to strengthen our community by enabling women and girls living in poverty to transition to a lifetime of economic self-sufficiency. Grants are made to organizations in Monroe County that help women and girls gain the education, training, skills and jobs necessary to achieve economic independence.

A program that shows results....lets keep it going.
In 2023, the City of Rochester began a year-long program that will provide a Guaranteed Basic Income, or GBI, to selected Rochester residents who live at or below 185% of the federal poverty level. The program is founded on the belief that people in poverty are best positioned to make informed financial decisions that address their households’ needs. The first results are in, and WXXI explored the impact it's had so far and ways it is expanding upward mobility for some of our community's most vulnerable residents. The results showed that 60% of the cash was spent on rent, 20% on basic needs, and 10% on other bills. “Even though it’s once a month, it’s something that’s better than nothing,” said Evans Buntley, 58. “And it sure enough gives support to me and my family, it helps me more than I can think of.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/g_7gsx86

New to the RWGC in 2023 is Friendly Senior Living and their STEP program. We will be funding 20 women who will go through training and certification for becoming a Certified Nurse Assistant while retaining their full-time wages. Transportation and guaranteed employment upon certification at a higher salary. Way to GO FSL!!!
