Sue Neil Receives Athena Leadership Award: A Celebration of Community and Dedication Sue Neil, our recently retired Human Resource Director at Robertson Heating Supply, was honored with the prestigious 2024 Athena Leadership Award during the Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce's Business Alliance Awards luncheon. This accolade recognizes exceptional women who demonstrate outstanding leadership and contribute significantly to their communities. On the day of the award ceremony Sue was surprised to find her usual Friday routine disrupted. Typically, she spends her Fridays delivering meals to senior citizens through Meals on Wheels. However, that week, she had no deliveries scheduled—a change that set the stage for a very deserving announcement later that day. Upon hearing her name called as the recipient of the Athena award, Sue expressed her gratitude and love for the community: "I'm so extremely blessed. I love Alliance." Her heartfelt appreciation reflects her deep roots in the area, where she has made? significant contributions over the years. Her commitment to service extends beyond her professional role at Robertson Heating Supply, founded by her grandfather, John Robertson. Celebrating 90 years of operation in May of this year, the company has employed four generations of the Robertson family. Sue has dedicated 41 years to the business, serving as corporate secretary and human resources director, under the leadership of her brother, Scott. In addition to her work at the family business, she actively participates on various boards, including All About Alliance Magazine and the First Christian Church. She has also made her mark in community? organizations, notably the chamber's Human Resources Committee and the Alliance Association of Office Professionals. Her philanthropic efforts are evident in her three years of volunteering with Meals on Wheels of Northeast Ohio, where the Massillon-based kitchen is proudly named after the Neil family. "I like that we are helping the elderly," she said. "I think it is a wonderful program to support." The award ceremony was made even more special by the presence of her family, including her? grandchildren, who came to celebrate her achievements. This moment not only highlights Sue’s personal accomplishments but also underscores the importance of family legacy in her life and career. In a world where leadership often goes unrecognized, Sue’s dedication to both her profession and the? Alliance community serves as an inspiring example. As she continues her journey post-retirement, Sue’s contributions to Alliance and beyond will undoubtedly leave a lasting legacy.
