Last night, RMWBH kicked off its WE WILL: Women Empowering Women in Law and Leadership resource group. This new initiative hosted by Shareholders, Sipra Boyd and Jane Wells Janecek, is designed to build a supportive community of strong, empowered women within our firm. We were thrilled to host Carol Enneking, author of The Rebalancing Act, to share her insights and experiences on striving for equality, balance, and empowerment in a professional career. Attorneys from all four RMWBH offices participated both in-person and virtually to discuss their stories and foster support for professional development. We thank Carol for sharing her valuable insights and cannot wait for our next event! ?

The 89th Texas Legislative Session unofficially starts today as legislators begin filing bills to consider and debate in the new year. The legislature is already off to a fast start with three POA related bills relating to owners’ ability to assemble, special elections for vacant board positions and everyone’s favorite – the chicken bill. RMWBH will keep track of these and many other bills that are filed throughout the 2025 Legislative Session, and we will provide updates here on LinkedIn and on our website. For our friends, in the POA industry, don’t miss our 2025 Legislative Session Preview webinar on November 20th hosted by Sipra Boyd. Sipra will detail the legislative process and provide the first analysis of the bills that have been filed. Register at this link: https://lnkd.in/g8wmFZxV

Texas is known for its wide-open spaces and abundance of natural and renewable resources. The large array of land space gives real estate developers the opportunity to lease their property to solar companies to harness renewable resources, much like developers have done for years in the form of mineral rights. Developers do this by entering into solar lease agreements. Before entering into a solar lease agreement, there are several considerations real estate developers need to keep in mind when negotiating a lease. Read more about these considerations in our latest blog post from Caleb Wood at this link: https://lnkd.in/gw7_Eytw

It was a groovy evening as community managers from across the Houston area came in their disco glam best to dance the night away. Thank you to our co-sponsors First Citizens Bank, kiloWatt Partners Inc, McKenzie Mena, LLP, Terry's Landscape LLC, Texas Pride Disposal, McKenna Contracting, Inc. and Brick Restoration Inc. and to everyone who came that made the evening a smashing success.

CTA UPDATE: CAI’s pursuit of a preliminary injunction to postpone the deadline for POAs to comply with the Corporate Transparency Act has been denied. What does this mean for me as a board member? Subject to certain limited exceptions, this means that all POAs will continue to have to comply with the CTA and report their “beneficial owner” information. For POAs, beneficial owners are the board of directors. The deadline to file for POAs formed before January 1, 2024, remains January 1, 2025. POAs should work with their management companies and/or legal counsel to ensure the filing process is done correctly. For more details on what POAs and their board members are required to report, please click this link: https://lnkd.in/gCS6NKwR

Look over the skies of San Antonio. You’ll see distant views of the Texas Hill Country, wafts of smoke from fajitas on the grill and BBQ smoking at the various restaurants around town, but what you will not see is a signal calling on your neighborhood POA attorney to save the day in a community near you. However, San Antonio does have a local POA attorney ready to fight for the needs of the communities he serves, and he does not need an elaborate disguise or alter ego. His name is Paul Gaines. Read Paul's journey to where he is at today with RMWBH at this link: https://lnkd.in/gEf3urz4
