The Robert Packard Center for ALS Research has been on forefront of ALS research for the twenty three years. Our approach to research is one where we facilitate intense scientific collaboration across institutional and administrative boundaries. Our aim is to provide innovative, promising, focused projects with researchers who understand that collaboration is a powerful catalyst in ending the disease.

The Packard Center is hiring a part-time Communications Coordinator. This contract position plays a critical role in advancing the Packard Center’s communication, marketing, and fundraising initiatives by developing both print and electronic resources. We are excited to welcome a committed group of pALS, caregivers and family members to our first ALS Clinical Research Learning Institute this week at Johns Hopkins, sponsored by the Packard Center. This two-day program pioneered by the Northeast ALS Consortium (NEALS) is designed to provide education and training to individuals impacted by ALS who are interested in clinical research and the therapy development process.
Steve McMichael, former Chicago Bears, was diagnosed with ALS in 2021. This past weekend he was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame surrounded by his former Chicago Bear teammates. Become an ALS Research Ambassador! The ALS Clinical Research Learning Institute? is a two-day program that empowers attendees to be strong advocates in the filed of ALS by educating them on clinical research and the therapy development process. Certification as an ALS Research Ambassador? provides opportunities to influence and improve the ALS Research process. The 2024 Baltimore/Washington, DC Metro Area ALS-CRLI will take place September 19th & 20th in Baltimore, MD. Due to budget and room size, please note that this event is limited to applicants who live within the Baltimore/Washington, DC Metro Area. Individuals impacted by ALS who reside in the Baltimore/Washington, DC Metro Area and have not yet attended a CRLI are encouraged to apply! For more information about the CRLI program, please visit the NEALS website. People living with ALS who are accepted into the program will be invited to bring one caregiver or family member.
