Exciting news!?? The Tiny Cargo Company, which began in the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC, is scaling their operations in the City of Roanoke, VA! The company is upfitting an existing building to include a clean room and production space to facilitate the production of exosomes and XoLacta, a revolutionary drug/therapeutic targeted to treat radiation exposure and serve as a radio protectant during cancer treatment. This project in particular had a lot of moving parts and several parties involved in keeping this innovative company in the region--we're incredibly proud of all the work that led to this announcement. Congratulations to our friends at Carilion Clinic!???????? They broke ground today on the new Carilion Taubman Cancer Center! This transformational new facility will bring together a range of disciplines, advanced technology and sophisticated trials in a single location and expand amenities for cancer patients. Carilion Clinic, already a leader in the region, continues to serve the community and contribute to the incredible quality of life we have here through better healthcare, innovation, employment, and opportunity. We couldn't be more thrilled for them, and we look forward to the ribbon cutting in 2027!

A little more than a year ago, we were looking at images and listening to speeches of what this project could be. On November 13, we get to see this dream actualized! The Market on Melrose at Melrose Plaza - Roanoke, VA officially opens its door on November 13, and we couldn't be happier for our community and Goodwill Industries of the Valleys.
