This Women’s History Month, we celebrate Dr. Audrey Evans—a true pioneer in pediatric oncology whose groundbreaking work changed the lives of children and families worldwide. On March 28, the film about her story, Audrey’s Children, will debut in select theaters across the United States. As the visionary and co-founder of the very first Ronald McDonald House right here in Philadelphia, Dr. Evans' legacy continues to inspire us every day. Her compassion and determination remind us that one person can make a world of difference. Check out the trailer!

Our visionary and co-founder, the late Dr. Audrey Evans, would have turned 100 years old today! In her honor, RMHC Philly is proclaiming March 6th "Dr. Audrey Evans Day" to recognize her pioneering work in pediatric oncology and Family-Centered Care. Dr. Evans believed that a sick child is a sick family, and the whole family must be cared for. This philosophy still guides us today. After 57 nights at RMHC Philly, the Lopez Gonzalez family has headed home! While mom received care at CHOP’s Special Delivery Unit, Grandma and Grandpa found comfort and support at the House, and their 7-year-old made special memories in our play areas. They enjoyed being able to make their own home cooked meals in our family kitchen area and also the meals provided by our Food Services team. Mom shared, “There wasn’t anywhere else we would have preferred to be during such a challenging time.”

During Saul’s treatment for a congenital heart disease, his family found comfort and support at RMHC Philly, staying with us for 89 nights. While much of his time was spent in the hospital, Saul got to make special memories exploring our Flyers Room and fun sensory wall before heading home to New York. His mom shared heartfelt gratitude for our shuttle drivers and volunteers, whose kindness meant the world to them.
