With tensions rising, now is the time to double-down on securing critical infrastructure. The testimony and insights from the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party usually makes headlines, but among all the dynamism of the Trump Administration and the following media cycle, it didn't make the cut this morning. The committee's central topic: End the Typhoons and How to Deter Beijing's Cyber Actions and Enhance America's Lackluster Cyber Defenses. With looming budget and federal worker cuts, and the future of agencies like DHS CISA unknown, the committee's focus and testimony was well timed. --Members criticized the vulnerabilities of American security systems that led to the Volt and Salt Typhoon attacks and questioned witnesses on changes needed to prevent future attacks. --Witnesses emphasized the critical need for a holistic and proactive approach to counter China’s cyber-attacks. They cautioned against the impact layoffs to the federal cybersecurity workforce could have on both cyber and national security. --Witnesses expressed concern about critical infrastructure security and cautioned against full-scale implementation of the “rip-and-replace” program due to the harm the program could cause to system resilience. Thanks to the witnesses who are working tirelessly as guardians protecting our way of life: --Mr. Rob Joyce, Acting Homeland Security Advisor, National Security Agency. --Dr. Emma Stewart, Chief Power Grid Scientist for National and Homeland Security, Idaho National Laboratory. --Ms. Laura Galante, Former Director of the Cyber Threat Intelligence Integration Center, Office of the Director of National Intelligence. • In honor of the Academy Awards, we’re recognizing some of our favorite films that capture the tension, strategy, and high-stakes decision-making in cybersecurity, intelligence, and risk management. ?? These films might be Hollywood dramatizations, but the themes of cyber threats, intelligence operations, and risk mismanagement are very real. What would you add? Drop your favorite cybersecurity-related movie in the comments

  • Zero-day vulnerabilities present one of the most critical threats in cybersecurity. They're unknown, unpatched, and highly exploitable. From remote access breaches to full system compromise, attackers leverage these flaws before they're even known to exist. In our latest blog, Senior Security Engineer Trae Mazza?breaks down the lifecycle of a zero-day attack; from?discovery to exploitation and, ultimately, mitigation.
