?????The Hidden Connection: Chronic Stress and Heart Disease????? Did you know that chronic stress can have a profound impact on your heart health? When we’re stressed, our bodies release stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. While these hormones are helpful in short bursts, chronic stress keeps them elevated, leading to: ???Increased Blood Pressure: Persistent stress can cause your blood vessels to constrict, raising your blood pressure and putting extra strain on your heart. ???Inflammation: Chronic stress can lead to inflammation in your arteries, contributing to the buildup of plaque and increasing the risk of heart disease. ???Unhealthy Habits: Stress often leads to unhealthy coping mechanisms like overeating, smoking, or drinking alcohol, which further harm your cardiovascular health. ???Heart Rhythm Problems: Stress can trigger irregular heartbeats, which can be dangerous if left unchecked. This World Mental Health Day let’s prioritize our mental well-being and recognize the critical link between our minds and our hearts. ???? Take a moment to breathe, meditate, exercise, and connect with loved ones. Your heart will thank you! ?? Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the world’s number one killer. Combined, conditions affecting the heart or blood vessels – such as heart attack, stroke, and heart failure – kill more than 20.5 million every year. Most of these deaths happen in low- and middle-income countries. We want to help the World Heart Federation bring this number down – way down. And there’s hope: 80% of premature deaths from CVD are preventable. By making small changes to our lifestyle – what we eat and drink, how much we exercise, and how we manage stress – we can better manage our heart health and beat CVD. As we celebrate World Heart Day, we would like to announce our Cardiovascular Health Fair. It will be held on February 15, 2025, in St. Louis, MO at the Bayer YMCA. More to come soon on exhibitors, door prizes, and entertainment at the event. • As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage, don't forget it is also National Cholesterol Education Month. The age-adjusted prevalence of high total cholesterol (≥ 240 mg/dL) among adults aged 20 and over was high in Hispanic men (13.1%) surpassed only by non-Hispanic white women (14.8%). Newer data showed improvement in most racial/ethnic groups with a decrease to 9.3% in Hispanic men and only a slight increase in Hispanic women. High cholesterol is a major factor in the development of heart disease and stroke. ??Monitoring LDL-cholesterol is a crucial part of heart disease prevention. Be proactive about your cardiovascular health, and consult with healthcare professionals to understand how individual and group-specific factors might affect your risk. • Please join us as we set out to make an impact on modifiable threats to cardiovascular health. We want your input on how we can make a difference. Contact us on social media or through our website. Thank you!

As we begin sharing our messages on LinkedIn to support our nonprofit organization focused on promoting cardiovascular health through information dissemination and community-based research, we will start by addressing the major threats to cardiovascular health. These include hypertension, lipid abnormalities, diabetes, smoking, and other modifiable risk factors. Our social media will prioritize our followers and clients. We will engage with you individually as we implement our community-based Cardiovascular Health Fairs as a Service business model in markets where we have identified community stakeholders to partner with us. We are starting with a focus on Saint Louis, MO, partly because cardiovascular health is worse in the city compared to many other parts of the country, and because of the under-utilized high-quality resources for cardiovascular health available in the region. We are excited to announce our first Cardiovascular Health Fair, which will be held on February 15, 2025, at Bayer YMCA in Saint Louis, MO, as part of our community-based Health Fairs as a Service initiative. While we aim to serve all people regardless of socioeconomic status, much of our focus will be on providing information to racial and ethnic minority and rural communities that have higher rates of cardiovascular disease and disparities in health outcomes. Confirmed and potential supporters of the health fair include Bayer YMCA, ArchWell Health, St. Louis Heart and Vascular, Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority and Fraternity, St. Louis Back and Knee, Medinexo, American Red Cross, GameDay Men’s Health, My Blooming Health Lab, and MD Health Partnerships. Please visit our website and follow us on our social media channels. We invite you to like, follow, and consider volunteering to support our efforts. We look forward to engaging with you to learn more about what community stakeholders want to hear about related to cardiovascular health.
