This season, may we be reminded that beauty is all around us. Sometimes, the simplest moments hold the most value— a gentle breeze, the warmth of sunlight filtering through the trees, or a quiet sunrise.?As we gather today, let’s take a moment to appreciate the unique and sometimes overlooked beauty in our everyday lives. It's the little things, after all, that fill our hearts with gratitude and remind us of what truly matters. Wishing you and your loved ones a holiday filled with warmth, joy, and the beauty of shared moments. Happy Thanksgiving! ??

RLF’s Computational Design group was excited to participate in the Orlando Health Foundation Inc's “Evening of Gratitude,” a night of fundraising for the $25 million RLF-designed Trauma Unit Expansion and launch of their newest campaign for the $160 million Children’s Pavilion. The team showcased interactive stations highlighting RLF-developed visualization tools used in the multi-phased design of Orlando Health’s Trauma Unit. One station featured a virtual reality (VR) experience, allowing guests to step inside the trauma bay—a space everyone is curious about but hopes never to see in real life. Another station introduced “Dr. Emmet,” a mixed-reality tool that breaks down traditional barriers in architectural communication. Dr. Emmet empowers team members to freely explore complex plans, fostering full participation and collaboration. It’s co-creation at its best—super interactive, engaging, and fun—delivering the most effective solutions in the shortest amount of time. Originally called Armistice Day, Veterans Day was established as a day to remember the heroism of those who have served our country and to encourage world peace through good will and mutual understanding. Today we salute and thank our nation’s courageous veterans who have served and continue to serve our nation. As a symbol of our commitment to these heroes and their families, RLF is proud to be actively involved in supporting veterans, physically and spiritually. One noteworthy project that exemplifies this commitment is the Chapel at the VA Orlando in Lake Nona. Designed by RLF, the Chapel is a testament to the power of simplicity and symbolism. At its core, the chapel's architectural inspiration came from a simple yet profound image: a humble bread basket used for tithes. The basket’s woven form became a metaphor for interconnectedness and support, much like how the VA serves veterans by providing care and fostering community. Translating this concept into architecture, the designers used the woven structure as inspiration for the fa?ade, crafting a pattern of geometric windows that mimics the interlacing fibers of a basket. Natural light plays a vital role in shaping the chapel’s environment. Carefully positioned windows and skylights allow sunlight to filter through, creating a calming, ethereal glow. The use of natural materials (concrete, slacked stone, glass and wood), clean lines, and a minimalist aesthetic further contribute to the space’s tranquil environment. This design approach aligns with the VA’s mission to provide a place of solace and spiritual support for veterans, regardless of their religious or spiritual beliefs. Congratulations to Orlando Health, Lantz Boggio / Architects, and the entire Health Central Park Skilled Nursing Home team on being named the 2024 winner in the Senior Housing News Architecture & Design Awards for Skilled Nursing / Post-Acute Care Renovation/Repositioning! In addition to renovations throughout, the project added a new 62,000-square-foot, 110-bed wing designed for short-term skilled nursing, high acuity, and memory care residents, increasing the total bed count to 228. Lantz-Boggio led the architecture and interior design, while RLF provided engineering and medical equipment planning.
