RK had a fantastic time hosting over 60 customers and guests at the sold-out Texas Tech vs. Colorado U football game this Saturday! As we all prep for trick-or-treaters and handing out candy, have you ever wondered where this spooky holiday came from? Halloween actually traces back thousands of years to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. On October 31st, the Celts believed the veil between the living and the dead was at its thinnest—so they lit fires, dressed in animal costumes, and left offerings for wandering spirits. Fast forward a few centuries, and the Catholic Church blended these traditions with All Saints’ Day on November 1st, creating what we now know as Halloween. Fun fact: the earliest form of trick-or-treating may have started with “soul cakes,” given to the poor in exchange for prayers! By the 1800s, Halloween in America became a night of pranks and mischief, but in the 1950s, the beloved tradition of trick-or-treating took shape. Hurricane Helene Relief Effort Update! In partnership with Diamondback Energy, RK Supply helped provide critical aid to hard-to-reach areas in East Tennessee and West North Carolina impacted by Hurricane Helene. Thanks to donations from the community, Mountain Mule Packers and Cajun Navy 2016 were able to transport essential supplies to areas affected by landslides, washed-out roads, and other storm damage. Brent "Hardy", RK's new VP of Operations, was born in Victoria, Australia, where he dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player. Over time, his journey brought him from Victoria to Canberra, and eventually to Midland, TX, where he now resides. His passion for sports continues through coaching. Brent supports the Houston Astros and any Australian team, and he actively promotes youth sports. Educated at UTPB, Brent learned the importance of time management, a skill that has greatly aided his career spanning roles from baseball instructor to Regional Manager and General Manager Operations. He emphasizes effective communication with team members as vital for business growth. Brent is a committed family man, married to Judy, and father to four children: Adaia, Harlea, Preslynn, and Nolan. Their family also includes Astro, a lively Chocolate Lab. On December 1st, 2021, Brent reached a personal milestone by becoming a US citizen. This experience has blended his Australian heritage with new cultural opportunities. Through it all, Brent is dedicated to his career, community, and personal goals, always looking forward to the next chapter.
