This is a community led initiative by The Nature Conservancy in Africa and Women in Water & Natural Resources Conservation with impact across Western, Nyanza and South Rift regions. We believe that empowering a woman is empowering a generation
Our community led conservation efforts of the Yala Basin have been fruitful and impactful to the communities along this river basin. Thanks to the dedication of our incredible community, especially the amazing women leading the charge, we're making a real impact on both our environment and the lives of those most affected by climate change. As part of our commitment as The River Yala Water Fund to sustainable conservation, we're providing energy-saving cook stoves with support from The Nature Conservancy in Africa to the women actively involved in protecting our river. These stoves are not only a game-changer for reducing firewood consumption but also a crucial step in lessening the strain on our precious natural resources. It's well known that women are disproportionately impacted by climate change, and by supporting their role in conservation and providing them with tools to reduce their environmental footprint, we’re empowering them to lead the way to a greener future. Together, we're building a stronger, more resilient community while safeguarding the lifeblood of our river.
