Congratulations to Allie C., RN in the Emergency Department, for earning the ICARE Champion Award for Accountability! A colleague wrote, “Allie is inspirational. She is the first nurse I encountered working in the Emergency Room. I have witnessed and experienced her character and kindness both on and off the floor. I’ve watched Allie lead by example; she’s supportive and helps fellow nurses and staff every day. Once, Allie had an elderly female patient that presented for a fall and she had a hip fracture. I watched Allie care for this patient as if she was caring for her own family. From getting a hospital bed for comfort, to including family in education on turning the patient and caring for this patient daily, Allie did this in-between her million other things on her list and teaching me. This nurse deserves recognition. Allie, in two days of working with her, made me want to be better and I am beyond thankful for that.” Being accountable for one’s actions and results. Accountability means more than just doing one’s job; it includes an obligation to make things better. Allie does this every day for Riverside Community Hospital. Thank you, Allie! #ICARE #livingourvalues #accountability #CareLikeFamily #RaisetheBar

Riverside Community Hospital's Level III NICU was honored to partner with the March of Dimes who hosted a special baby shower for our NICU moms. Most families in the NICU miss the joy of celebrating the upcoming birth of their baby with family and friends. That's why March of Dimes brings the baby shower to them, here at the hospital, with gifts and celebrations for them and new baby. Thank you, March of Dimes! #NICUbabyshower

Last night, Riverside Community Hospital, in partnership with OneLegacy, hosted a Floragraph Ceremony for the Antúnez family honoring organ, eye and tissue donor Athena Zepeda. Athena passed away on November 7, 2020 after taking, what she thought was, a muscle relaxer that turned out to be laced with Fentanyl. Athena’s heart went to a 13-year-old boy in Las Vegas, Nevada, one of her eyes to a recipient in Chile, and her lungs, kidneys and liver were also given to patients on the organ donation waiting list. As in years past, OneLegacy is proud to honor donors with memorial floragraphs on the 2024 OneLegacy Donate Life Rose Parade Float. The Floragraph Ceremony unveiled Athena’s floragraph to the Antúnez family and gave them the opportunity share heartfelt words about her life. Guests at the ceremony with the Antúnez family included Riverside Community Hospital administration, intensive care and surgical services teams, EMS partners and representatives from OneLegacy. Hospital leadership that play a critical role in the donation process wrote a personal message on a floral vial that will be added to the Donate Life Float. Thank you, Antúnez family, for allowing us to be part of this special moment. Athena's legacy truly lives in the hearts of you all.

Riverside Community Hospital turned green today for National Injury Prevention Day! We are raising awareness and empowering communities to stop injuries and violence—the leading cause of death and hospitalization for people aged 1 to 44. Good trauma care starts with prevention. The majority of injuries in adults and children are unintentional and preventable. By taking simple precautions and knowing the signs and tips, you can help prevent an injury or death from happening to you or someone else. Riverside Community Hospital's Level I Trauma Center is committed to providing education to the community to prevent injuries before they happen. RCH partners with many community agencies to provide education to the community through various prevention programs. Join us and go green! #NationalInjuryPreventionDay

Bee Award! Liz P., Environmental Services Postpartum wrote, “We are incredibly fortunate to have Liz as our housekeeper as she profoundly impacts our patients' experience. During nurse leader rounding, she received multiple praises from our patients, and she was also mentioned many times in the satisfaction survey. Liz doesn’t just go to the patient’s room to clean it, which she does amazingly; she also connects with the patient, support person, and siblings. Here are some comments patients made about her. ‘We really like Liz; she is so sweet and caring. She talked to my kids and offered them a coloring book and a sibling sticker. Her smile brightens our room, and I could tell she likes what she does.’ ‘Liz cleaned my room very well; she is nice and genuine, and she offered to help me.’ ‘Liz is very detail-oriented and went above and beyond her job by helping us get a menu and even bringing us some water. She does all of this with a smile.’ Liz is an invaluable part of our team, and we are so grateful for the incredible care she provides to our patients." #beeaward #CareLikeFamily
