Last month on October 25th, we took an exciting step forward in advancing immersive technologies with the launch of the Center for Human-Centric Augmented and Virtual Reality at our 2024 AR/VR Symposium. The event brought together researchers, students, and industry leaders to explore the future of AR/VR. The day was filled with inspiring talks, an engaging poster session, and a hands-on lab showcase that highlighted the latest AR/VR innovations. A special congratulations to the winners of the poster session: ?? 1st Place: Yanmei He, Rochester Institute of Technology – Facial Color Matching in Optical See-Through Augmented Reality ?? 2nd Place: Tanya Garg, University of Rochester – Tracking Threat: Exploring Attentional Biases and Selection History with Eye-Tracking ?? 3rd Place: Eddie Pei, Rochester Institute of Technology – Simultaneous Lightness Contrast Effect in Augmented Reality The 2024 AR/VR Symposium was sponsored by The Office of the Provost and co-organized by The Center for Visual Science. We are now accepting applications for the Supervisor, Library Stacks role here at River Campus Libraries! ?? The Library Stacks Supervisor manages all aspects of the River Campus Library (RCL) Stacks operations including supervising, hiring, training, evaluating, and scheduling the Stack Attendants. The Library Stacks Supervisor oversees processes for the retrieval and return of physical materials to the stacks throughout River Campus Libraries and leads and directs temporary and ongoing projects for stacks maintenance (e.g., materials inventory, shifting, and relocation and maintenance of signage) as necessary to improve collection usability. This position is responsible for generating and analyzing reports for collection management and shared print commitment activities and projects. This role communicates with users and staff across the UR Libraries to resolve collection issues and questions (e.g., missing and claims returned items, account inquiries, metadata issues, damaged materials, and shelving constraints). This position works closely with Patron Services, Metadata Services, Building and Technology Services, and subject liaison librarians.
