The RIT Venture Creations Incubator (VCI) helps startups commercialize their products, and prepare for outside risk capital. VCI offers active coaching by on-staff mentors, educational events, and access to a highly specialized set of vetted partners across legal, HR, accounting, sales, marketing, and other relevant areas, to help the startups maximize their probability of success. Startups can also access relevant RIT resources such as the Golisano Institute for Sustainability, NYS Pollution Prevention Institute (P2I), Global Cybersecurity Institute, intellectual property research, Pitchbook, and more. VCI has been a keystone RIT initiative since 2003, with 33 active companies in 2021. Companies should be, or have the potential to become high-growth startups. Companies don’t have to be RIT affiliated, but the incubator has a slight preference for companies and products in these industries because of RIT’s expertise and ability to add value: - Clean energy & climate tech - Photonics & imaging - Cybersecurity - Gaming - B2B software - Access technology If your startup is based outside the USA we offer an additional suite of services to help the company start selling in the US faster, cheaper and before an A-round.

Yesterday and today, Brad VanAuken is attending the Grow-NY Summit in Ithaca, NY. Twenty finalists from across the country and the world are pitching their agricultural startups for the $1 million grand prize and lesser prizes. A requirement is that they would locate their operations in the Grow-NY region. There is quite a robust agricultural entrepreneurship ecosystem in Upstate New York. The startups have presented innovative high-tech solutions that reduce waste, reuse byproducts and create better food products without artificial ingredients or preservatives. There is no shortage of innovators shaping the future. I say this with confidence after attending the?Startup World Cup?at Innovation Depot, and it was nothing short of inspiring! ?? Ten startups took the stage, each with a 3-minute pitch, showcasing groundbreaking ideas to shape the future. Having done plenty of pitches, 3-minutes is extremely tight to communicate your entire business. From?augmented reality-based concussion detection?to?revolutionary lab mice monitoring hardware and farming technologies, the breadth of innovation was amazing to witness. ?? One of the standout moments was when?Erika Boeing and Accelerate Wind?????emerged as the winner—kudos to them! ?? They blew us away with their vision and execution. It’s inspiring to see so many entrepreneurs in the Southeast pushing boundaries and creating technologies that will impact industries from?healthcare?to?agriculture?and beyond.
