One of the hallmarks of Risky Business Solutions is our ability to work discreetly with various companies and government agencies to identify both online threats and internal risks to new products. Recently, we concluded a first of its kind Red Team analysis for Synthesia, focusing on potential vulnerabilities associated with GEN-AI Avatars. Given how little scholarly research was done on GEN-AI Avatar Red Teaming, we developed our own comparative analysis framework. This allowed us to effectively gauge Synthesia's Trust & Safety measures against competitors who may not possess similar features or capabilities. Our analysis yielded two significant findings. First, given how new this space is, we were impressed with how robust moderation capabilities were among some of the companies we tested, including Synthesia, especially detailed policies on social engineering, disinformation, and emerging spam and fraud typologies. Second, we were concerned to discover several companies foregoing basic keyword automated moderation for profit. This oversight potentially enables malicious users to exploit these platforms for harmful activities such as #bullying, #harassment, #disinformation, #fraud, and #deepfakes. We'd like to officially introduce you to Risky Business Solutions. This has been in the making for nearly a year, ever since we left Meta as investigators tackling several high-risk elections and some of the worst humanity has to offer. As immigrants and service-disabled military intelligence veterans, we have spent our lives understanding the interplay between technology and malicious behavior. At Meta, through the pandemic, threats to democracy, and eventual layoffs, we came to several realizations: - As much the internet makes the world smaller, it increasingly amplifies political and societal fractures and monetizes that amplification.? - Authentic users, customers, brands, and advertisers want a trusted internet, and safety to freely interact with one another.? - Technical cybersecurity is always a problem, but behavioral harms like coordinated fraud, influence operations, ad abuse, and child exploitation increasingly impact non-tech industries and sectors. - While global regulation is catching up, Trust and Safety teams are still the vanguard against malicious users and abuse. They’re also often the first ones laid off. After a series? of conversations and collaborative projects, what began as separate individual consulting ventures has now evolved into a partnership called Risky Business Solutions. While it formally exists as our LLC and consolidates the OSINT, risk management, cognitive security, and advisory work we’ve been doing, it represents more than that - we want to make the internet trustworthy again.
