? Today, we embark on a 4-week series all about DISC! ? To fully understand DISC, it's important to understand how the four individual components work together to create the whole. While a typical person may have one or two dominant characteristics, it's the combination of the four components of DISC that defines a person's behavior. The four components of DISC create a "behavioral makeup" unique to every individual. We are grateful for the opportunity to share a few words at the Human Resource Professionals of Central PA Chapter HR Conference. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and even more new ones. We've titled today’s talk, "Redefining Leadership: Embracing the Essence of Servant Leadership." ?? 1. “Self-deception is like this. It blinds us to the true causes of problems, and once we’re blind, all the ‘solutions’ we can think of will actually make matters worse. Whether at work or at home, self-deception obscures the truth about ourselves, corrupts our view of others and our circumstances, and inhibits our ability to make wise and helpful decisions.” -- Arbinger Institute, Leadership and Self-Deception: Getting Out of the Box ?? 2. "Whether we're inside/outside the box depends on whether we're focusing on what the other person needs, or what we need." ? 3. Two Rules: a) Stop answering questions—start asking them. b) Stop solving and fixing problems—support and coach others in solving and fixing problems. ? 4. How you show up matters. Keep fighting the good fight and seek to become a better leader. It matters— for our organization’s performance, for employee engagement, and for community impact.
