Today, on International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day, we come together to honor those we've lost, support those who have survived, and offer hope to all affected by suicide. This day is a reminder that no one walks alone on this journey. We had the honor of hearing Kevin Hines and his powerful story of survival and resilience. After his experience with attempting suicide, Kevin has dedicated his life to advocating for mental health and spreading hope. His emotional journey shows that with support and healing, there is a greater life at the end of the tunnel. A lesson learned from his story- don’t stay silent. Ask for help. Ask your friends and family if they need help. We are all in this together. If you or someone you know is struggling, remember there are resources available. Reach out to loved ones, connect with support groups, and call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, to speak with someone 24/7. Thank you, Baltic Street Wellness Solutions for an outstanding event. It was an honor to be a part of the second annual symposium- Unlocking the Power of Community: Addressing Loneliness. This inspiring event brought together thought leaders, like keynote speaker, Kevin Hines and other advocates, and community members who share a passion for building connections and combating loneliness. It was an absolute pleasure hearing the stories and insights from our community, a community that proves over and over again that togetherness is key. What is sometimes kept under wraps is that loneliness IS a public health issue. Isolation in any form impacts mental, physical and emotional health. While this symposium was an important reminder of this, it was more so an enlightening account of the power of community, how community is truly right around the corner, and why sharing thoughts, feelings, and concerns is vastly important…and could save yours or someone else’s life. The Baltic Street team is a force in and their work is illuminating and deeply impactful in breaking stigmas surrounding mental health. Together, we are strengthening our communities and empowering individuals to feel seen, heard, and supported. Transgender Awareness Week is a time to honor, uplift, support, and celebrate the transgender community. At RiseWell Community Services, we believe in fostering a safe, inclusive space where everyone feels seen, respected, and supported. Trans+ and TGX visibility is more important than ever. This week is a week to reflect on the challenges often faced by the community and a time to remember those we have lost. Not only do we honor during these times, but we serve as advocates for all. RiseWell offers various recovery services, including our brand new MOST (Mobile Opioid Support Team) as well as our Mobile SUD (Mobile Substance Use Disorder), and specializes in care for the LGBTQIA+ and Transgender community.
