Through partnerships and programs, we inspire leaders in sports to create positive change on matters of race and equality. RISE provides: Leadership programming for student-athletes, coaches and administrators at every level to equip them with the knowledge and skills to stand up against racism and advance the conversation around race relations. Opportunities for athletes to amplify their voice and make a difference as effective advocates to stand up against racism and promote social change. Events for fans in conjunction with college and pro sports games and public awareness campaigns encouraging the public to join with professional athletes and community leaders in taking a pledge to stand against racism.

I was in KC recently to attend The Communications Network annual event alongside my colleague, Britt Musolino . I had the great opportunity to talk with communicators about my work at RWJF last week at #ComNet24! Alisha Greenberg and I displayed a beautifully designed poster (shout out to Shieree Chaudhury) about how we're exploring sports culture as a platform for #narrativechange. Our sports fan research and partnership with athletes were the main topics of conversation, and we made some fantastic connections. Besides the great sessions, my favorite part of my trip to Kansas City was getting to tour the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and seeing the power of sport to tell the story of segregation, structural racism, and progess.

?? Full Circle Moment ?? In the summer of 2021, I had my first internship opportunity with RISE,?a national nonprofit that educates and empowers the sports community to eliminate racial discrimination, promote social justice, and improve race relations.?This was my introduction to the sports industry, and that experience profoundly shaped my academic journey. It was then that I realized I wanted to pursue a career in athletics. Now, in 2024, with two degrees behind me, I’ve had the chance to work with my former managers/mentors, Scott Koenning and Andrew, on two RISE-partnered events during my time with the Seattle Seahawks. Both the 12s Vote Workshop and the ongoing Game Changers sessions have been executed flawlessly. I’m incredibly grateful for this full-circle moment. #workinsports #RISE #NFL #Seahawks #Vote
