We enjoyed spending time with the leadership of state colleges and universities, including those from Risepoint university partners, at the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) Annual Conference for Presidents and Chancellors. A special thanks to session panelists Dr. Todd Shields, Chancellor of Arkansas State University; Dr. Kelly Ryan, President of Eastern Oregon University; and Dr. Ken Tucker, President of the University of West Alabama for sharing their partnership insights in The Impact of Access: How Online Degrees for Working Adults Create Stronger Communities. Panelists were joined by Jay Hatcher and Susan Dukes, two of our Risepoint colleagues, who served as session moderators.

Sydney Riggs, who earned an MBA from Carleton University, shared how the university's online program impacted her growth - not just professionally, but also personally. She says, "[The program] was a great opportunity to not only further my education, advance my skills and knowledge, but also gain a deeper insight into myself, which was helpful from a career perspective and personal perspective, too. Knowing yourself better is going to help you in every aspect of your life."

At Risepoint, we're committed to respecting the local communities we serve and those in which we work. The Risepoint team in Australia recently received an Acknowledgement of Country plaque, proudly displayed in our Melbourne (Narrm) office. Narrm is the Woiwurrung language name for the traditional meeting ground that is Melbourne. The purpose of this plaque is to pay respect to the continuous connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have to the land.

As a remote-first company, we're committed to helping our colleagues feel welcomed, supported, and proud of where they work. Risepoint merch is a small (and fun) part of these efforts! We look forward to attending the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU)'s Annual Conference next week! Three of our partners will be featured panelists for a discussion on online degrees and how they impact working adult students. Online education makes it possible for students to reach their goals and inspire others. Casey Graham, who is on track to graduate with her BBA in Management from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, said "I will be the first in my immediate family to finish. Did you know that 68% of college students are working students, with part-time or full-time jobs, and 41% work 40 or more hours per week? Juggling work and academics is a challenge and can lead to a decrease in educational performance. Higher education institutions can help improve student success by adopting strategies that support students who balance work and school. Online programs can serve as a solution, providing more flexibility for students who aren't able to be on campus as frequently.
