Active and idle oil wells contribute to substantial pollution and create disparate health outcomes among the communities living near the drilling sites. Idle, abandoned, and even plugged wells can create pollution and spillage?despite their decommissioned status. What a fantastic day spent at the Rise Economy Action & Advocacy Conference at the California Community Foundation space in Los Angeles. There were great panels and incredible speakers, including Leah Rothstein, co-author of "Just Action: How to Challenge Segregation Enacted Under the Color of Law," and Secretary Julian Castro, CEO of Latino Community Foundation. Added bonus, attending the conference with my colleague Aimee Williams! Learned a lot about reinvesting in the community, how to protect and empower consumers, and a reminder of the importance of estate planning as a means of building inter-generational wealth.

Thank you Paulina Gonzalez-Brito and Jyotswaroop Kaur Bawa for inviting me to the inaugural Rise Economy Action and Advocacy Conference. It was a pleasure to connect with former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Julian Castro, and I enjoyed the panel discussion with Assemblymember Isaac Bryan and Los Angeles City Council Member Hugo Soto-Martinez about advancing an equitable future in California. It will take all of us working together to remove historical barriers for underserved communities to increase opportunities to build generational wealth and economic mobility.

This recognition celebrates ADUgo, our pioneering CRA-driven loan program designed to help underserved homeowners finance the construction of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs).
