???????? ???? ??’?? ?????? ?????? ?????????????? ???? ???????? ???? ???? ???????????????? ?????????????? ??????????? I’ll never know. ?????? ?? ???? ???????? ????????: I lead Reboot Representation so BLNA women and girls in computing never have to ask that question. This year, I was honored to join Ijeoma Kola, Ph.D. and Enjoli Richardson M.S., CCC-SLP at SXSW EDU. As we round out #BlackHistoryMonth and gear up for #InternationalWomensDay, we couldn’t think of a better time to talk about what digital counterspaces make possible for Black women and girls today and tomorrow. These online spaces help: ??Fuel purpose: inspire more Black women and girls to pursue careers in computing ????????Keep it real: foster belonging and resilience for Black women in college ??????Keep talent thriving: help Black women enter and stay, in computing I’m still buzzing from the great conversations I’ve had at #SXSWEDU, and I’m excited to continue strengthening the digital counterspaces that help BLNA women and girls excel.

“If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair." Shirley Chisholm Shirley Chisholm was the first Black woman elected to Congress, representing New York's 12th congressional district from 1969-1983 where she introduced more than 50 pieces of legislation. She was also a champion for racial equality, gender equality, the poor, and ending the Vietnam war. Chisholm's legacy also includes her status as the first woman to campaign for the Democratic Party presidential nomination in 1972. Chisholm was a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus and National Women's Political Caucus. Her motto, "Unbought and Unbossed," is also the title of her autobiography. She died in 2005. • Kicking Off a New RISE in Computing Scholars Cohort! Last Friday, we had the pleasure of welcoming our Spring 2025 RISE Scholars cohort! The energy in the room was incredible as students met -- some for the first time, despite sharing classes. You could see friendships and a sense of community forming instantly, a testament to the power of connection and shared goals. We were grateful to host a panel of special guests -- Cam Flowers, Beth Laing, Lisa Leff, Stacey Levine, and Jessica A. Mitchell -- who shared invaluable insights on crafting a strong technical resume. Their expertise and advice will serve as a strong foundation as our students prepare to enter the workforce. Now more than ever, access to opportunities in tech is critical. Programs like RISE in Computing help bridge the gap by equipping students with the skills, networks, and confidence to thrive in the industry. A huge thank you to Reboot Representation for their generous support in making this work possible. We can’t wait to see what this cohort accomplishes! #RISEinComputing #BPC #DiversityInTech #FutureReady #TheStateWay
