    Chairman & Chief Strategy Officer | Executive Board Member

    What’s your Ripple story? In celebrating mine and Angie Sandritter’s anniversary last week, it only feels right to share some of the early days of starting RippleWorx. Everyone who was there at the start will have their own “Ripple story,” but here’s mine: Aside from about 30 seconds at the beginning of my career I’ve always been in software technologies. While Angie and I were at the global HR tech company Haufe, we began talking about a need in the market for a more agile talent tool with folks like Brian Hadley and Jonas Hummels, who are still going strong with us today. We were observing that a lot of HR technologies were very static and transactional, and we wanted to build something more dynamic. We recognize that people aren’t “one size fits all” with their skills and life experience, so why should their HR technologies be? We coupled that with ideas from DARREN HARDY’s The Compound Effect, and the principle of “pulsing” — survey, develop and perform. Because we all had this athlete background, we started in sports, measuring the performance and acceleration of the physical side of training. There was so much data and statistics to collect in this area, and we worked with mostly soccer teams, and some football before we were approached by a media company. They saw the potential in being able to measure and give continual feedback for their “deskless” employees, some who work out of news vans or on the scene of an event. Although we saw the potential in that, we circled back to that original foundation we all had in human resources. I studied and wrote my dissertation on the types of knowledge we have: factual, conceptual, procedural and metacognitive knowledge, and we paired that with the motivational drivers of our lives. RippleWorx is looking at all of that in an organizational context, helping leaders find what they really need from their people, and assisting with continual training modules to strengthen your team. But that concept of reaching and training the deskless workers of the world stuck with us, and it’s how we found our product market fit with industries like military and DOD, law enforcement and security, first responders and anyone else who works out in the field. We first started working on Ripple in 2017, I couldn’t have told you which exact industries we’d be positioned in, but we’ve found a niche that I’m honored to serve in, and one which I think we can really make a difference in. Even though we went through a few iterations, the core of our technology, and the end result was always aiming for the same thing. Our goal is that you, the organization leader, understand where your people are thriving, where they're growing, and how that aligns with the needs of the organization. What’s your Ripple story??
