Ripples of Impact Nonprofit

Last Wednesday we participated at an Art Basel kick-off event to highlight sustainability in the art realm. This event, The World is on its Side, was hosted by B Lab and Florida For Good Miami. The event brought together many local B Corp representatives, sustainability leaders in our community, and out of town guests. Ripples of Impact's Resilience Pod was represented there as a local asset that combines art and sustainability education, just like the event promoted. The Pod uses a beautifully designed aesthetic to create a warm and welcoming environment to its visitors. It uses solar power for operations, and distributes fruit trees and vegetable seedlings to local residents to educate them on the importance of sustainable food sources to address food insecurity.

Less is More!!! Overconsumption is something we all struggle with. It has negative impacts on our world with respect to the environment, waste generation, climate change, economic inequality, our health and the depletion of future resources. Tried, true and new!!! The Resilience Pod made its fourth annual appearance on Oct 20 at The Love-In at Greynolds Park. This event is one we always look forward to, having great conversations with community members about our changing environment and ways we can stay resilient by making sustainable choices. This is the FIRST event representing our new organization Ripples of Impact! For over 30 years, Ocaquatics has provided lifesaving skills to the South Florida community to make families safer around the water. Through the phenomenal team at Ocaquatics, guided under a framework of environmental and social responsibility, the swim school has grown in a sustainable way and has been able to make a bigger impact in the world. This work has led to the creation of the non-profit, Ripples of Impact Nonprofit Ripples of Impact (ROI) is an extension of the mission at Ocaquatics -- To make children and families in underserved communities safer around the water by providing scholarships and tuition assistance for high quality swimming lessons. In addition, educating the public about environmental and social responsibility, resilience and ownership. To lead on the environmental resilience effort, The Resilience Pod has been added as an education asset. The Pod is a 40-foot shipping container that has been retrofitted as an interactive learning space and post disaster touch point for resources. It has been a part of the community since 2020, moving around Miami Dade County providing information on climate change, environmental resilience and sustainability. The pod will now be living at the Ocaquatics Eureka location between visits to community events.
