Dementia is a terrible disease -- it transforms not just for those in its clutch, but family members and caretakers as well. Nationally, the cost burden of dementia is extreme, and projected to double in the next two decades. Important research and numbers coming out of the National Poll on Healthy Aging from University of Michigan's Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation. “These findings echo what I hear in my focus group-based research on caregiving, which is a need for more support and a lack of awareness of where to turn to get help with the demands of taking care of one or more loved ones.” - @Sarah Patterson Ph.D., M.A., University of Michigan ??1 in 4 Americans over 50 are caregivers ??The second most common health issue or disability that caregivers help their friends or family with are memory or thinking issues, at 42%, including Alzheimer’s and other dementia. This is “why we Rippl”! Dementia caregiving can be tremendously challenging. Caregivers need help and support from a team of experts that know and understand their particular situation. Hopefully data like these will help everyone realize how important unpaid caregivers are to our communities and economy. The numbers are mind boggling.
