Play is paramount in early learning and development. RIOS is designing and fabricating pedagogical play elements for The Center for Early Education, a K-6 school located in the heart of West Hollywood. We are collaborating with the school to create dynamic and adaptable playscape with elements that inspire children to explore and stay curious while at play. For the first part of the project, we worked on a series of interactive graphics for the school's Level 1 Courtyard and designed the Micro Magnifying Dome, a manipulative play structure that offers a multi-viewer magnifier for students to use outdoors. Our team refined the spherical dome concept, developing a second product that enhances flexibility and interactivity in play. Using colorful pool noodles and connectors fabricated with rounded edges for safety, the structure can be arranged in various ways, encouraging creativity and imagination for the students through play and exploration.
