Our 2024 cohort of McCain Global Leaders have gathered in the U.S. for their week-long Leadership Experience in Annapolis and Washington.?? ? Their first gathering as a full cohort, our MGLs are experiencing the principles that guided Senator McCain’s leadership approach while connecting with experts to establish their own leadership philosophy and goals. ? The first half of their week included conversations with Mark Salter, Jack McCain, Major Garrett, Evelyn N. I just left Ukraine. I spent almost a week delivering aid, medical equipment & vehicles with the incredible folks from #ZeroLine. I talked with Ukrainian civilians; military & heroes. I was briefed by the best in tech. I saw the damage. The US must increase not only military aid… but expertise. Data sharing. Political support. I’m happy to coordinate a visit through humanitarian non-profits for those interested in facts and ground truth.

ANNOUNCING TWO DISTINCT CONFERENCES Police ranks are depleted. Tenured officers have left in droves. Qualified recruits are hard to come by. Budgets are slashed. Criminals have gone high-tech. Can artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technologies fill the void? As we in law enforcement cross the threshold into this unchartered water, public safety, and national security leaders will need to?develop pathways for the near, medium, and long term, build knowledge within their departments, and establish robust policies addressing the use, evaluation and human intervention in AI applications. The Global Consortium of Law Enforcement Training Executives, the Rutgers Miller Center on Policing, and the IJIS (Integrated Justice Information Systems)?Institute have assembled a group of world-class leaders conversant in AI and policing for both an in-person Summit to be held in Reston, Virginia on September 4th/5th?and a National Webinar, scheduled for August 28th. The webinar is hosted by the National Sheriffs' Association, ASIS International, NJSACOP, New Jersey State Police, Small & Rural Law Enforcement Executives Association, Police1, International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, LifeSafetyAlliance.org, Public Safety Media Strategies, and Brooks Bawden Moore, LLC. These illuminative conferences will emphasize an international acknowledgment of AI’s potential to significantly elevate policing efforts, provided a balanced and well-regulated approach is adopted. These educational opportunities will be?a clarion call for global policing to vigorously engage with, recognize, and integrate AI in a manner that augments their capabilities while safeguarding against the risks inherent in this powerful technology.
