We're on a mission to end harassment - in all its forms.
关于我们
Right to Be is a global, people-powered movement to end harassment. We work together to understand the problem, ignite public conversations, and develop innovative strategies that ensure equal access to public spaces. We leverage the very spaces where harassment happens – from online to the streets – to have each other’s backs and build a world where we can all be who we are, wherever we are.

Thanksgiving can be tough when conversations heat up, but you’re not alone. At Right To Be, we believe the dinner table can be more than just a place for sharing meals—it can be a space for building care, support, and understanding. This Thanksgiving, we’re bringing the 5Ds of Bystander Intervention to your holiday gatherings to help you create braver, safer spaces for everyone. Here’s how you can show up for your people: 1. Distract: Change the conversation. A well-timed “What’s everyone grateful for?” can work wonders. 2. Delegate: Team up with someone to diffuse tense moments. Even your younger cousin or the family pet can play a role. 3. Document: Write down harmful comments if needed. It keeps the record straight and shows support for those impacted. 4. Delay: Check in with someone after a tough moment, even during dinner. Knowing someone has their back can make all the difference. 5. Direct: Calmly address harmful words. Try, “That’s hurtful,” or ask, “What did you mean by that?” This isn’t just about defusing conflict—it’s about creating a sense of community, even when conversations get tough. Watch Emily May break it all down in the video, and share this with someone who needs it—we all deserve safer spaces at the table. Want to get equipped with the 5Ds and learn how to intervene in harmful situations? Visit righttobe.org for free resources and training. Have a story about hate or hope at the dinner table? Share it with us at hateandhope.righttobe.org—your experiences can inspire change. Wishing you a connected, caring Thanksgiving from all of us at Right To Be.
