At Right Forensics, we know that brilliant minds don’t always look the same. Some are meticulous and structured, while others challenge every assumption and push the limits of what’s possible. But in digital forensics—where diligence, integrity, and precision aren’t optional—we can’t afford to build a team of chaotic, unpredictable geniuses. So how do we strike the right balance? We believe in hiring for integrity first, innovation second. We value structured investigators who ensure accuracy and creative thinkers who see hidden patterns others miss. The key is thoughtful risk-taking—knowing when to bet on unconventional talent and when to hold firm on the standards that define our field. We explore this balance in the latest edition of our Uncover Newsletter. What do you think? Have you ever made a hiring bet that paid off—or backfired? Let’s discuss. ?? #hiring #leadership #digitalforensics #innovation

As many criticize #DeepSeek R1 and its efficiency claims, I focused on the huge benefit it afforded the forensic community with its #opensource approach. This is the real news: we now have public access to the most impactful chain-of-thought (CoT) reasoning model currently available! The timing couldn’t be better to pull back the curtain early in the game as these CoT models pave the way for #AGI. I now have the most sophisticated reasoning model, DeepSeek R1, running on my Silicon MacBook Pro. Keep it coming!! #LLMForensics

Congratulations to Pinpoint Labs and the release of their new software tool for remote phone collections, CrossCopy Mobile (CCM). We got an early demo of this tool: it is for remote supervised or self-collections allowing targeted acquisition of discrete text messages via private preview. Custodians can rest assured that none of their private data is collected and stored elsewhere, while forensic examiners feel good about how everything is hash verified. Further, custodians can continue to use their phones once the collection is underway, and client data never traverses PinPoint’s servers. This combination of convenience, privacy, security, and forensic integrity for mobile ESI collections is a first for the industry. Right Forensics licenses this software and offers it as part of our toolbox of software options to solve problems when a sensitive custodian is pushing back on the traditional full imaging approach.
