A very hot topic today in the glycerine market – what impact will the incoming Trump Administration have on the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) and the Biomass-based diesel industry. Many players in the industry still have memories of the Trump Small Refinery Exemption (SRE) spree which exempted well over 1 billion gallons of biofuel or compliance credits during his last term.?Will the administration continue efforts to reduce the cost burden of RFS compliance for big oil in the new term? Feedstocks will no doubt be a major focus.?Soybean oil pricing rose substantially post Trump victory amid concerns of tariffs against imported feedstocks, however much of those gains have now disappeared.?Whether it be canola oil imports from Canada or “UCO” imports from China – Trump tariffs on the very important & sizeable feedstock import market will no doubt impact biomass-based diesel operating margins in the coming years. Market participants will also need to keep a keen eye on policy.??Does Senator Grassley have any chance of successfully passing through a Blenders Tax Credit extension??How will the Trump Administration influence the Treasury’s implementation of 45Z come 2025??Will Trump EPA director nominee Lee Zeldin continue his efforts to reform – or even eliminate – the RFS? At Rierden Chemical – we take seriously our mission to empower our team members and support our community – both inside and outside of the office. Last Friday we had the opportunity to do both – a company happy hour while supporting a great cause at GiGi's Playhouse Inc.- Down Syndrome Achievement Centers. The mission at GiGi’s Playhouse is “to change the way the world views Down syndrome and to send a global message of acceptance for all”.
