Eyes on the Launch Pad! ?? Gilmour Space Technologies just announced a mid-March target for the first flight of its Eris rocket from Bowen Orbital Spaceport in Queensland. If successful, it would be the first Aussie-built launch vehicle to reach orbit and Australia’s first orbital launch since 1971. Gilmour’s team has navigated license delays, weather, and technical checks to arrive at this launch window—no small feat for a brand-new rocket program. While acknowledging the realities of a first flight, they plan to gather invaluable data each second Eris is airborne, setting the stage for future commercial launches. By building and launching from home soil, Gilmour Space opens new avenues for satellite operators and entrepreneurs looking for diverse ways to reach orbit.
