State Representative Lilian Jiménez, with support from Ride Illinois, introduced HB3225 in the Illinois House. State Senator Mike Simmons introduced a companion bill in the Senate (SB2285). These bills redefine a bicycle in the Illinois Vehicle Code as “every human-powered or low-speed electric vehicle with 2 or more wheels not less than 12 inches in diameter, designed for the transportation of one or more persons.” Trike riders rejoice...well, not yet, since the bill has just been introduced. Many thanks to State Rep. Jiménez and Sen. Simmons for their support! We’ll be sure to provide updates on bicycle-related bills during the spring legislative session. Check out our State & Federal Bicycle Bill Tracker for a list of bills that we’re advocating for and/or keeping our eyes on. https://lnkd.in/gspkrJG6
