“If the clinic hadn’t been so accessible and efficient and the Nurse Practitioner had not been so thorough in her follow-up, they probably wouldn’t have caught the cyst,” said a Richmond Employee about the City of Richmond’s Marathon Health Clinic. “All of this happened within one week. If I had gone to my primary care doctor, it would have taken at least two weeks just to get an appointment, only to receive antibiotics and not a comprehensive assessment. In this case, the clinic’s care was potentially lifesaving.” Read more about how the City of Richmond’s newest employer-sponsored healthcare clinics, operated by Marathon Health, are shaping the future of healthcare delivery in the workplace in the latest issue of Public Management Magazine. https://lnkd.in/eAsfsXaZ

Safety for Motorcycles, Safety for All— Last Friday, several regional jurisdictions gathered at Richmond Raceway with a mission to emphasize the importance of motorcycle safety in Central Virginia. ? The effort was led by the Richmond Police Department in hopes of spreading the message of safer roadways for all. RPD Chief Rick Edwards spoke about the many safety measures that the city of Richmond recently added. “Richmond has engineered many traffic calming measures, such as speed tables and roundabouts,” said Chief Edwards, “and Safety Cameras have been installed in front of schools to automatically cite violators…but motorists are still speeding.” ? Also joining the event was the Henrico County Police Chief Eric English, Virginia State Police Sergeant Jessica Shehan, Chesterfield County Police Captain Pete Cimbal, AAA’s Morgan Dean, and Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles’ Mitch Hrdlicka. ? The agencies urge motorists to be mindful of their speed and be aware of motorcycles in their surroundings when driving. Road safety is a team effort, and all six agencies are committed to safe roadways for all.

The City of Richmond hosted its 2024 Service Award Ceremony on Sept. 18, 2024. The ceremony was a resounding success, celebrating the dedication and hard work of over 550 employees who have demonstrated outstanding service with milestones ranging from 5 years to over 60 years of service to the City of Richmond. The ceremony began with a reception which fostered camaraderie and appreciation among all attendees. During the ceremony, Chief Administrative Officer Lincoln Saunders emphasized the importance of these milestones by stating, "We are here today to celebrate our greatest strength as an organization, you, our employees. Fulfilling our mission to serve the public daily starts with each of you. Providing critical access to services to ensure citizens have beautiful and functional streets, parks, and living spaces. Solve the problems of our citizens and enhance the quality of life in Richmond.” ? Mayor Levar Stoney echoed this sentiment, noting, "Being a public servant can be a thankless job, and it takes guts to put yourself in the arena to make a difference. Unlike those on the sidelines, you choose to be IN the arena, you are DOING the work, and you are BUILDING a better Richmond.” Held at Main Street Station, the event brought together colleagues and leaders from across the organization to honor those reaching significant milestones. The evening was filled with heartfelt speeches, gratitude, and applause as awardees were recognized for their contributions, leadership, and commitment to excellence. #EmployeeEngagement #WeAreRVA #CityofRichmond
