Each year, more than 16 million people visit the Richmond Region, and they contribute close to $2.9 billion to the local economy. Tourism generates almost 24,000 jobs in the Richmond Region. Richmond Region Tourism is a private, not-for-profit dedicated to promoting the Region to meeting, convention and sports event planners, tour operators and leisure travelers. The organization represents the cities of Richmond and Colonial Heights, the town of Ashland and four counties: Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico and New Kent. Richmond Region Tourism operates Visitor Centers at the Robinson House at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the Richmond International Airport. As the Region’s destination organization, we are experts who have a deep love for the community in which we live, work and play. We enrich the lives of our residents and visitors by sharing the unique culture and humanity that is the Richmond Region. We generate economic prosperity through tourism by attracting conventions, meetings, sports tournaments, and visitors and ensuring that all have an unforgettable experience. We enhance the quality of life for the people in our community by supporting the places that make the Richmond Region wonderful. We strengthen local programs that drive tourism through our Richmond Region Tourism Foundation. We do all of this through a lens of diversity, equity and inclusion.   • Richmond was recently filled with excellence, sisterhood and service as we welcomed Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for the 72nd Marvelous Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference! ?? ?? With thousands of members gathering from across the region, this conference was a powerful reminder of the impact of leadership, community engagement and lifelong bonds. A huge thank you to the Mid-Atlantic Region leadership, the dedicated members of AKA and everyone who played a role in making this conference a success.

  • That’s a wrap on the 2025 Richmond Region Tourism Marketing Summit! ??? A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at the Greater Richmond Convention Center for a morning packed with insights, strategies, and collaboration. With valuable information about how to simplify media relations, using design hacks to make eye-catching content, and the ins and outs of social media and influencer marketing, yesterday was all about giving our tourism partners the tools to sell the Richmond Region in exciting new ways! A special shoutout to our guest speaker Chris Canfield, MTA for his inspiring insights on creativity in tourism marketing, and to all of our attendees for bringing energy, ideas, and enthusiasm to the conversation.   • We're excited to welcome The Atlantic 10 Conference women’s basketball championship back at the Henrico Sports & Events Center, this week! Athletes and fans from nine states and the District of Columbia will converge in the Richmond Region for the exciting event. The top team heads to the NCAA Championships. A-10 women’s championship visitors were greeted at Richmond International Airport with a basketball display as part of the Terminal Takeover: The A-10 Fan Court Experience.
