One of the most common questions we get at Richmond Promise is what are our fantastic alumni up to as they get started on their professional journeys. Today, we are excited to share the story of RP alumna Mahi Taban, a third-year law student at the University of Virginia. A former member of the RP Mentor Program, Mahi graduated from Clark University in Massachusetts and she is now finishing law school with an eye towards starting her career in commercial litigation. As part of her academic journey, Mahi has had the opportunity to travel to places like Kenya and Switzerland, and that global perspective has helped reinforce the impact that local programs, such as Richmond Promise, can have for students trying to figure out?what comes next for them. Richmond Promise Scholar Joseph Lopez is intent on finding out, and he's taking advantage of every opportunity he can as he pursues an Engineering degree at San Francisco State University. Whether it's working on a construction site, in the City of Richmond, California's engineering department or as a Scholar Advisory Board member at RP, Joseph is doing everything he can to shape his future career path. The 2025 West Contra Costa Education Fair is coming up! We're proud to join West Contra Costa Unified School District, Enroll WCC and GO Public Schools in welcoming local families to Richmond High School on January 25th from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The WCC Ed Fair gives families an opportunity to connect with representatives from schools in our community as well as local community organizations and college partners. The 2025 Richmond Promise Scholarship is NOW OPEN for Richmond residents! Eligible students can apply for the $1,500 annual scholarship that is renewable for up to 4-6 years (depending on a student’s path and petition).
