关于我们
Tradition and pride describe the Richmond Community Schools. The tradition is evident in the incredible expanse of Richmond High School. With its soaring cupola that can be seen for miles, our high school epitomizes the tradition and pride in excellence of our community in its school corporation. Our schools stress first the academic programs while maintaining high standards of expectation for all students. This program excellence is seen at all levels. At the elementary level, teachers work in low ratios with students to offer a personalized instructional program. In our intermediate schools, students have the opportunity to explore under the careful and caring guidance of a well-trained staff. Richmond High School is recognized for both breadth and depth of program effort and its many National Merit scholars.

RCS Chief of Police Extends Gratitude to School Community RICHMOND, Indiana (September 16, 2024) – Chief of Police, Rick Thalls of the?Richmond Community Schools Police Department (RCSPD) would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our students, staff, and families for their cooperation and patience over the last few days. We understand that incidents like these can be stressful, and we appreciate the calm and orderly manner in which everyone responded to the safety protocols. Our priority is always the safety of our school community, and thanks to your support, we were able to ensure that all necessary precautions were followed efficiently and effectively. Important Reminder: Understanding Classroom Secure vs. Lockdown RCSPD would like to take this opportunity to remind the community about the difference between a?Classroom Secure?and a?Lockdown?notice: *A?Classroom Secure?notice is issued when there is a potential threat outside the building, such as nearby criminal activity, unauthorized individuals on school grounds, or during an investigation of a potential threat. It may also be used for internal incidents such as a medical emergency. During a Classroom Secure, lessons may continue, but movement within the building is restricted. *A?Lockdown?notice, however, is implemented when there is an immediate, life-threatening situation, such as an active shooter, a hostile event, or another incident that requires the maximum security response. In these cases, all movement ceases, doors are locked, lights are turned off, and students and staff must remain silent and out of sight to ensure their safety. It is important to understand these protocols to help maintain a calm and safe environment during any type of security situation. We would also like to emphasize the importance of keeping students at school during these situations. Parents are strongly discouraged from signing their students out unless absolutely necessary, as this can disrupt safety protocols and complicate the management of the situation. We are grateful for the collaboration between school staff, law enforcement, and families in navigating this situation. We will continue to provide updates as necessary and encourage everyone to remain vigilant and to communicate any concerns. Again, thank you for your patience, understanding, and trust in our efforts to keep our schools safe. For further inquiries, please contact RCSPD Chief Rick Thalls at 765-973-3300 or?[email protected]. https://lnkd.in/gmigsD_c
