  • Richards Regenerative recently attended the 3rd annual Regional Regenerative Meat Event At Mulvaney's Restaurant in Sacramento this past November. The event was put on by  ROOTS OF CHANGE, a food system policy and advocacy group.    This is the second Roots of Change event we have attended this year where we had panel discussions on several topics, with one of the most glaring topics being the "Product of the USA" labeling laws. It's so important to know where your food comes from, and unfortunately "Product of the USA" doesn't mean it was raised here, or even processed here. Pay attention to labeling and know that Richards Regenerative is 100% raised and processed here in the USA!   We enjoy connecting with all our peers in the regenerative space and cannot wait to do it again in the coming year.

  • The season doesn't begin until Richards Regenerative's "cows come home." Late November our cattle returned to the Ranch from Alturas, CA where they spend May-Dec grazing on irrigated pastures, while our pastures here in Oregon House, CA take a rest. It's so nice to see our sweet momma cows who we have owned for years return home. Another year around the sun, agriculture helps us remember to enjoy the seasons.   Just another day at the Ranch!

  • Richards Regenerative recently attended the annual American Grassfed Association conference, "REGENERATE" this October. It was held at the Denver Stockyards in the CSU Spur Center. They partnered up with the Quivira Coalition, a group that connects aspiring ranchers and farmers with apprentices who need them. An amazing program we have participated in for four growing seasons.    Having Quivira Coalition co-sponsor this year was fantastic as so many young aspiring ranchers and farmers were there to learn, participate, and attend an onsite job fair. Their energy is just what our industry needs to drive the future of agriculture.    There were inspiring presenters like, Dr. Meg Cattell who discussed the alignment of the global biome with our human biome. Dan Probert who talked about his family ranching business and their work with Country Natural Beef. Their story in particular struck a cord since we at Richards Ranch are on a similar path. And last but not least, was P. Wade Ross, speaking of his family's journey as an African American farmer/rancher in College Station, Texas.   Connecting with all our peers in the regenerative space was truly an honor and we look forward to the future of Regenerative Agriculture.

  • Last week the three of us were in Asheville, North Carolina attending a Regenerative Ranching & Farming Conference with Land to Market https://lnkd.in/g_FpyCFJ and got caught in Hurricane Helene. Being from California we didn't realize the severity of these storms but we do now. The Farm we were visiting, Hickory Nut Gap https://lnkd.in/ee48WkAc, is ok but suffered an incredible amount of damage.   When we got down the hill from our airbnb we were able to see the true destruction;  trees down everywhere, power lines down, roads washed out, culverts blown out, and high rushing water. Folks we ran into had cars and portions of their houses washed away, trees fallen into their homes, roads taken out land-locking them, and in some cases entire towns were washed away... it is unbelievable and heartbreaking.   We tried to get out that evening but the waters were getting so high the highways and freeways were shut down in most directions. Finally, early Saturday morning we made a run for it down I-74 and managed to get to Charlotte. It was a miracle.    The troubling news is that so many people are still stuck there with limited cell receptions, little to no water, gas or food. And time is running out on those things.  We are telling you this in hopes that we can ask that you donate to the organizations that are getting aid to these areas. See below for links. Blue Ridge Public Radio https://www.bpr.org/ Go Fund Me https://lnkd.in/eFw232gC This may be the largest national disaster in US History. Please help, and send whatever you can. Thank you, - The Richards Ranch Team

  • A BIG thank you to Dr Paul Saladino for reaching in the Sprout’s freezer and pulling our Richards Regenerative Patties as an example of what consumers should look for in healthy beef. We sell our 1lb ground beef and 6oz patties at all 150 California stores. If your looking for more than grind, come to our website and shop our store for steaks and other cuts. #richardsregenerative

💡 To celebrate #iwd2024, we partnered with Bayer to release new interviews which explore the importance of diversity and equity as transformational unlocks to drive a sustainable and resilient food future for all. https://bit.ly/4a0TCA0 You can read their stories of #inspiringinclusion here now >>> https://bit.ly/4a0TCA0 Read the full paper now to hear from: ·      Nici Bush, Vice President Innovation, Science and Technology, Mars ·      Kelly Gillespie, Vice President Operations - Digital Farming, Bayer ·      Mary Jane Melendez, Chief Sustainability & Global Impact Officer, General Mills ·      Carrie Richards-Prelip, Co-Owner, Richards Ranch Meats, Inc. DBA Richards Regenerative ·      @Amy tu , President – International, Tyson Foods ·      Margaret Henry, VP Sustainable & Regenerative Agriculture, PepsiCo ·      Jemima Jewell, Head of Agriculture & Responsible Sourcing, John Lewis Partnership ·      Jessica McGhie, Senior Manager Global Sustainability, McCain Foods ·      Megan Rock (Weidner), Chief Sustainability Officer, CHS Inc. ·      Elizabeth Micallef, General Manager in Canada, Bunge Just some of the key themes include: 🌎 Our world is changing and so is our understanding of the values that drive value in our food systems. As the industry scales equitable and regenerative food production systems, it is critical that we include diverse perspectives in product development to create innovative and sustainable food products that benefit everyone. ♀ However, we must acknowledge that the current food supply chain is male-centric, which presents significant challenges to our food system. Women and minorities often face barriers in accessing resources, such as land and training, which hinder their productivity and potential contributions to the industry. 🤝 To overcome these structural vulnerabilities and build a more equitable workforce, we must form constructive partnerships and collaborations. We can actively seek out and support diverse suppliers, invest in training and development programs for underrepresented groups, and promote a culture of inclusivity within our organizations. The full paper explores these issues in-depth and provides actionable insights on how we can all work together to build a more sustainable and equitable food future for everyone. While we come from different backgrounds and experiences, we share a common goal of creating a more resilient and sustainable food production and delivery system to meet the challenges of a changing world.” Kelly Gillespie, Bayer We hope you find this whitepaper informative and valuable.
