In January, we were honored to participate in the Eco Farm Conference. We felt like we were finally part of a new farming and ranching community that had been going on for decades which we had never participated in before! This event, hosted at the Asilomar Conference Center for Pacific Grove, CA, was truly a stunning setting for a sustainable conference. We were asked to speak about regenerative grazing, the talk was called Regenerative 101, which our sister Carrie did with an amazing rancher Caleb Barron, the owner of Fogline Farms. They discussed what it is really like to be out on the land and how to make it in today's market when you are a smaller producer. It was an amazing event, with a ton of grazing friends delicious food, all sourced from California farmers and ranchers. If you love food and farming it is a must-do event!

Regenerative agriculture transforms ranching by prioritizing holistic, sustainable practices over chemical inputs and extractions. Focusing on restoring ecosystem health through rotational grazing, maximizing water infiltration & minimizing soil disruption. All to help promote biodiversity and resilience in our landscape. The goal? Building a strong agricultural system for the future generations. Check out our blog post What is Regenerative Agriculture and our mini documentary Stories of Regeneration: A New (Re)Generation filmed when we were transitioning to a more holistic way of ranching. We have come a long way since then and we couldn't have done it without your help! Thank you, The Richards Regenerative Team "Know where you beef is coming from!" Product of the USA

When our cattle come home in November to Richards Ranch, we had one last task. So in December we needed to round up all the calves, tag, brand and then send them out to graze for the winter with mom. It takes a village... The ranch team plus our cattle partners, horses, ATV's - oh my! AND we still had a few calves slip by! We will tag them in the spring :) Ranching is a community effort, and it's why we love it so much. As we settle down for our long winter nap, remember to appreciate the meat on your plate. As it takes a lot of love and care to get that wonderful grass fed beef to your door.

Richards Regenerative recently attended the 3rd annual Regional Regenerative Meat Event At Mulvaney's Restaurant in Sacramento this past November. The event was put on by ROOTS OF CHANGE, a food system policy and advocacy group. This is the second Roots of Change event we have attended this year where we had panel discussions on several topics, with one of the most glaring topics being the "Product of the USA" labeling laws. It's so important to know where your food comes from, and unfortunately "Product of the USA" doesn't mean it was raised here, or even processed here. Pay attention to labeling and know that Richards Regenerative is 100% raised and processed here in the USA! We enjoy connecting with all our peers in the regenerative space and cannot wait to do it again in the coming year.

The season doesn't begin until Richards Regenerative's "cows come home." Late November our cattle returned to the Ranch from Alturas, CA where they spend May-Dec grazing on irrigated pastures, while our pastures here in Oregon House, CA take a rest. It's so nice to see our sweet momma cows who we have owned for years return home. Another year around the sun, agriculture helps us remember to enjoy the seasons. Just another day at the Ranch!

Richards Regenerative recently attended the annual American Grassfed Association conference, "REGENERATE" this October. It was held at the Denver Stockyards in the CSU Spur Center. They partnered up with the Quivira Coalition, a group that connects aspiring ranchers and farmers with apprentices who need them. An amazing program we have participated in for four growing seasons. Having Quivira Coalition co-sponsor this year was fantastic as so many young aspiring ranchers and farmers were there to learn, participate, and attend an onsite job fair. Their energy is just what our industry needs to drive the future of agriculture. There were inspiring presenters like, Dr. Meg Cattell who discussed the alignment of the global biome with our human biome. Dan Probert who talked about his family ranching business and their work with Country Natural Beef. Their story in particular struck a cord since we at Richards Ranch are on a similar path. And last but not least, was P. Wade Ross, speaking of his family's journey as an African American farmer/rancher in College Station, Texas. Connecting with all our peers in the regenerative space was truly an honor and we look forward to the future of Regenerative Agriculture.
