Mark A. Turco, M.D., F.A.C.C., President & CEO of the R.I. Life Science Hub, was honored to join Consul General Seiichiro Takahashi of Japan along with R.I. Speaker of the House Joe Shekarchi, Senator Linda Ujifusa and Rep. Many topics were discussed including promoting business relations between Japan and the region, with a special focus on the life sciences.

Scientists in the lab of Michael Frank at Carney Institute for Brain Science have created a new model for working memory, showing how humans optimize this process used to juggle information in the short-term, like making a mental grocery list then going shopping. There are limits to the information we can handle at one time. But the issue, Frank and his team found, isn't centered on brain capacity - but on learning. The Rhode Island Neuroscience Symposium brought together researchers, clinicians, entrepreneurs, investors, and students to drive innovation in neuroscience—fostering collaboration that brings breakthroughs from the lab to patients.
