When we first architected the?Rhodes Advisors?university delivery model, one founding pillar was that good advice regarding online programs and portfolio growth was insufficient. -- We decided we MUST be staffed and capable of supporting the implementation of the advice we give, which we have done in every project to date. Sometimes, it's technical integration/upgrade support, and sometimes, it can be hands-on weekly coaching and capacity building throughout the engagement in the form of change management implementation. The short video below was sent to me by a friend and mentor, James Kenigsberg, as a reminder of the importance, when we first drew up the business, and it was immediately sent to my team to reinforce our mission. Former OPM or EdTech employee and looking for your next role? Read this. Over the last two years, I've witnessed thousands of roles and headcount reductions across OPM and EdTech. It's been a challenging time, to say the least. My initial thesis for Rhodes Advisors is that colleges and universities can-and-will continue to build online, hybrid, and innovation capacity within their walls regardless of what happens to OPM, outsourcing only for discrete delivery services they decide they need. So far, we're helping a few great institutions strategize, plan, and implement the future of online higher education. It's working. One thing that wasn't part of my thesis was that higher education clients would immediately ask for my/our recommendations as to exactly whom they should hire for their open roles. And while my vast immediate network has been helpful, it does not cover the full scope of layoffs and currently unemployed great people looking for work. For what it's worth, I have experienced a sincere eagerness to learn, build, and iterate, working directly inside universities. It's more like the edtech and startup world than you may expect.
