It was a wonderful evening for Rhinelander at the Rhinelander Country Club last Wednesday at the Business after 5, where nearly $60,000 in grants were awarded to 25 deserving local organizations doing great works in our area. Pictured is a representative from “Let’s Go Fishing”, who serves seniors, veterans and youth through aquatic recreation. RCF board members Steve Michlig and Patrick O’Melia were on hand to distribute grant awards. RCF welcomes Jessica Schiek MS, LPC to the Board of the Directors. Jessica works as the Director of Behavioral Health for Aspirus Health Care.?While not a Rhinelander native, Jessica relocated to the area in 2008 after meeting her husband.?She has a BA in Sociology from the University of WI - Madison and a MS in Educational Psychology from the University of WI-Milwaukee.?She has volunteered her time with organizations such as the Rhinelander Area Scholarship Foundation, Northern Highland Area Health Education Centers and is passionate about the community.?In her free time, Jessica enjoys cooking, boating, and spending time with her husband and two daughters!??

RCF welcomes Hon. Patrick O'Melia to the Board of Directors. Hon. O’Melia was born and raised in Rhinelander. He graduated from Nativity of our Lord and Rhinelander High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from St Norbert College and his juris doctorate from Marquette University Law School.? ? Patrick was an Oneida County District Attorney and an Oneida County Judge, Branch I. Since his judicial retirement, he resides in Rhinelander and continues to do judicial work throughout Wisconsin .? He is a member of the Wisconsin State Bar Association and the Vilas-Forest-Oneida County Bar Association. Patrick was previously affiliated with United Way, Rotary Club, and Nativity of our Lord Parish Council. ? He and his wife, Karalyn, raised their 3 children in Rhinelander. They enjoy visiting their children and family in Anchorage, Arizona, Denver, and Milwaukee.?

RCF welcomes Shane Sparks to the Board of Directors. Shane Sparks is an Insurance Agent for Klinner Insurance in Rhinelander. Before embarking on his insurance career, Shane spent 30 years in broadcasting, primarily in management and sales.?Passionate about making a positive impact in Rhinelander, Shane has served on the Board of Directors for the YMCA of the Northwoods since 2016, dedicating over three years as the Chief Volunteer Officer.?Additionally, Shane generously donates his time to the Rhinelander Country Club and Rhinelander Youth Hockey as a member of their respective Board of Directors. Shane is married to Elizabeth Sparks.?Together their free time revolves around their two kids, boating on Boom Lake and cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers.???

The Rhinelander Community Foundation is announcing the opening of its 6th annual competitive grant cycle and encourages all eligible organizations to consider applying for a grant during the month of February, 2024.
