It takes a village. Rheumission at #HLTH2022 when Takeda Digital Ventures said “Bonnie if you really want to start a company go find a CEO.” I was 67 years old but motivated by my own experience and that of my family with hopes for a better future for my ten grandkids. Off I went to recruit Dean Sawyer?as the Co-founder and CEO,?Micah Yu as our Director of Integrative Rheumatology, and Melissa Mondala?as our Director of Lifestyle Medicine. We incubated the company in Takeda Digital Venture’s venture studio, and they provided our initial capital. Two years later, we have a fantastic team united around bringing a care team model to Rheumatology patients. We changed the name from Yashicare to Rheumission, created a new logo, and are in the process of building a brand that inspires hope, thanks to?Katie Cleary. Also, thanks to?Rebecca Baker, BSN, RN, BS Ed, ACHE?, and?Dr. Ashley Sepanski, DNP, MBA, RN?for their help in those early days, and now?Brent Creighton, PhD for his ongoing operational expertise. ?
