The Impact of Sunlight on Lupus Patients Dr. Michelle Kahlenberg is investigating why lupus patients experience severe sun sensitivity, leading to painful rashes. Her Foundation-funded research has uncovered that UV light triggers an overactive inflammatory response in lupus patients due to high levels of interferons and a protein called ZBP1. Dr. Kahlenberg’s work aims to develop treatments that restore the skin’s normal response to sun exposure, offering a hopeful future for lupus patients. Until then, she recommends zinc and titanium-based sunscreens for protection. Watch the full video and learn more about her Foundation-funded project https://lnkd.in/g4M28e6g
