This week, I had the privilege of attending the second edition of the Abu Dhabi Space Debate alongside Shawn Usman, Astrophysicist + CEO of Rhea Space Activity. The Abu Dhabi Space Debate serves as a global platform, bringing together government, industry, and academia leaders to address challenges and unlock opportunities in the evolving space sector. Supported by leading international organizations, the event fosters critical dialogue on shaping the future of space exploration and access. Delegates from across the globe shared insights, forged collaborations, and explored partnerships aimed at addressing key issues—from creating equitable policies to enabling emerging countries to participate in the expanding space ecosystem. A highlight for me was attending the Youth Trail Court, witnessing the passion of the next generation for space—a moment that resonated deeply with my board role at the Conrad Challenge, founded by my dear friend Nancy Conrad, where we inspire and activate young innovators to keep the spirit of exploration alive in partnership with Space Center Houston. It was also inspiring to hear from HE Dr. Sultan Al Neyadi, Emirati astronaut and the first Arab to serve on the International Space Station, and UAE Minister of State for Youth Affairs, on how the Abu Dhabi Space Debate 2024 is fostering global collaboration to address space challenges for the benefit of all. Another incredible moment was meeting Professor Brian Cox, renowned CERN physicist and broadcaster. His insights on sustainability in space emphasized the importance of global collaboration to harness resources for the benefit of humanity with all of the Hollywood studio effects. It was awesome to share meals, coffee, and conversations with friends from the following participants UAE Space Agency, Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, UK Space Agency, Rhea Space Activity, Sierra Space, Space42, Spacedata Inc, The Milo Space Science Institute, Axelspace Corporation, Marlan Space, Open Cosmos, E2MC (Earth-to-Mars Capital) Ventures, PLD Space, AUDACIA, New York University Abu Dhabi, US-UAE Business Council, Shoal Group Pty Ltd, Majugani Development, AzurX | Space & Strategic Technologies, ForwardEdge ASIC, Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Vast, Planet and SkySevenVentures. A huge thank you to HE Salem Al Qubaisi, Director General of UAE Space Agency and his incredible team for organizing such a remarkable event. I leave Abu Dhabi with fresh perspectives, meaningful connections, and a renewed excitement for the future of the space industry. Lastly, reconnecting with my old friend franco nuschese, owner of Café Milano Abu Dhabi at the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, was a true delight. If you’re in Abu Dhabi or Washington, D.C., I highly recommend Café Milano for an exceptional Italian culinary experience!

Navigating the Future: Why Celestial Navigation Outshines Quantum and pLEO Solutions for Satellite AltPNT ?? When it comes to #altPNT technologies for satellites, celestial navigation isn’t just an option—it’s the standout solution. But why does it surpass quantum and pLEO alternatives? ?? No Infrastructure Needed: Celestial navigation leverages the positions of celestial bodies, making it infrastructure-free and exceptionally reliable, whether in remote locations or deep space. ?? Immune to Jamming & Spoofing: In contested environments, celestial navigation stands firm. Unlike radio frequency-dependent systems, it’s immune to electronic attacks, ensuring unmatched security for your satellite operations. ? Centuries of Trust: Celestial navigation is time-tested, simple, and cost-effective—qualities that ensure its relevance in an ever-evolving technological landscape. While quantum and pLEO technologies have potential, they bring challenges like complexity, high costs, and vulnerabilities. Quantum accelerometers, for instance, remain nascent at best. In contrast, celestial navigation offers a sustainable, low-complexity, and resilient altPNT solution for satellites. Learn more about why altPNT is essential for military resilience in Kevin Hause's recent article for SpaceNews: https://lnkd.in/eNBXiPFd For more information on RSA's celestial navigation altPNT solution, visit our website: https://lnkd.in/eu35iPWk #spaceindustry #celestialnavigation

?? It’s National Coding Week ?? In honor of National Coding Week, RSA is shining a spotlight on Ada Lovelace, a trailblazer whose pioneering spirit continues to inspire the worlds of mathematics and computer science. Born in 1815, Ada displayed remarkable mathematical prowess from a young age. Her encounter with Charles Babbage's Analytical Engine sparked her imagination, leading her to envision the potential of machines to surpass mere calculations. Inspired by the mechanical loom's punch cards, Ada's visionary work included what many consider the first algorithm intended for machine processing, laying the cornerstone for modern computing. Her contributions were so profound that, in the 20th century, the United States Department of Defense named a computer language "Ada" in her honor. This initiative, started in the late 1970s, aimed to standardize programming languages for defense projects. At RSA, we continue to honor Ada’s remarkable legacy with our own quantum communication capability: the Quantum Lovelace Optical Augmentation Kit (QLOAK). Ada Lovelace's enduring influence exemplifies resilience, creativity, and a relentless pursuit of knowledge. Join us in celebrating Ada's legacy and profound impact on the tech world this National Coding Week! ???
