The work continues! Our critical runway rehabilitation project of Runway 14/32, which began on February 3, 2025, is a part of LPIA's long-term infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing safety and operational efficiency. This work is crucial to fully supporting and enhancing LPIA’s current operations and future growth as an airport. As always, we continue to work closely with all of our airport community stakeholders to manage operations as efficiently as possible during this period. We Did It Again, Bahamas! LPIA was named the 2024-25 Best Airport in the region (for 2 - 5 million passengers) by ACI World - Airports Council International! We are the proud owners of yet another Airport Service Quality Award (ASQ). In February 2024, The Bahamas will become the first international destination to witness SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rockets landing on autonomous droneships, with the landmark landing scheduled for February 18th off the coast of The Exumas. This collaboration positions The Bahamas as a key player in the space tourism industry, offering unique economic opportunities and technological advancements. With 20 scheduled landings, the country will be the exclusive location to witness these landings on autonomous droneships in Bahamian waters. Additionally, SpaceX will support educational development in The Bahamas.
