Happy Engineers Week! This week, we're celebrating the incredible work engineers do to shape the future. Scheduled for completion in 2026, 1165 Providence Highway will be a 320,000 sf owner-occupied building for FM, setting a new benchmark for sustainable and resilient design. Led by Hobbs Brook Real Estate, the project will feature state-of-the-art research/testing, Class A office spaces, and a four-story, 930-space parking facility. Targeting LEED Gold and WELL Bronze certifications, the all-electric building will be powered by 220 geothermal wells, water-to-water and air-to-water heat pumps, and high-efficiency thermal systems. With PAYETTE and Shawmut Design and Construction. https://lnkd.in/eDwtHj5C

Ribbon Cutting and Grand Re-Opening Day | Boston University’s Walter Brown Arena was granted a major makeover, offering brand new locker room facilities for our Women’s Hockey Teams | It takes a village to rollout a project like this and we are very much grateful for being able to work hand in hand with external partners like Perkins&Will, Commodore Builders, RFS Engineering, Lighthouse Electrical Contracting, Inc., Red Thread, Daktronics and many other allied trades | Together, we are able to deliver a better facilities experience to our BU Athletics stakeholders | The day was made even sweeter with our Team’s 3 x 0 win, Go Terriers! ???? #BU #Teams #Success #Together #Communication #BostonUniversity #ProudtoBU #US_at_BU #LETS_BU #LinkedIn

RFS is excited to be working with DiMella Shaffer on this project! "With an emphasis on aligning system upgrades with Tufts University’s long-term planning goals, steam from the campus cogeneration plant will be converted to low-temperature hot water within the building via a steam-to-hot-water heat exchanger.?"
We are excited to share our latest sustainability spotlight - Existing Buildings: The Next Frontier for Campuses written by Lauren Günther and Diana Linsenmayer! Originally built in 1926, Blakeley Hall at Tufts University is undergoing a complete renovation to increase its bed count, improve circulation, and add interior and exterior spaces for connection and collaboration. The project also incorporates innovative decarbonization strategies to reduce both operational and embodied carbon. Discover how three key questions shaped our approach to transforming this historic residence hall. https://lnkd.in/gUiNRv7s #architecture #interiordesign #sustainability #highereducation #residencehall Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) RFS Engineering

We're counting down the days until the Kanc8 at Loon Mountain Resort opens for the season! This innovative, semi-enclosed pavilion wraps around the Kancamagus 8 lift, creating a unique experience for skiers and visitors alike, both on and off the slopes. RFS is proud to have provided structural engineering for this 15,000 sf space, which also serves as a dynamic venue for year-round events. In collaboration with Bull Stockwell Allen, we designed a cantilevered roof structure featuring 24" deep glulam beams and CLT roof decking. Explore more about how we contributed to the Kanc8 project! https://bit.ly/3ZBTx1U
