I cannot think of a better way to kick off the holiday season than spending it with our friends at Island Harvest during their Turkey and Trimmings campaign. Food insecurity is a rampant issue and higher grocery prices are driving the demand for food assistance everywhere. The holiday season can be especially difficult here on Long Island where the cost of living is so high. Reworld Waste Long Island is delighted to be able to help fight this problem by supporting Island Harvest at this annual event. This wonderful event raises vitally needed funds so that a meaningful holiday experience can be provided to people who struggle with hunger each day. This incredible initiative highlights our commitment to supporting the communities we serve across Pasco, Pinellas and Hillsborough counties in Florida. The Evan R. Liblit Memorial Scholarship fund held its annual breakfast this week at the Irish Coffee Pub in Islip. In memory of environmentalist Evan Liblit, this annual scholarship breakfast recognized several graduate and undergraduate students from Stonybrook University for their excellence as students of recycling and marine conservation. There wasn’t an empty seat in the house as business leaders and managers of solid waste convened for this special morning remembering Evan who made such significant contributions in the field of waste management across Long Island. Reworld Waste was delighted to be a major sponsor of the event in support of Stonybrook’s outstanding commitment to helping to solve environmental and sustainability problems on our great Island. #recycling #wastemanagement #StonybrookUniversity

Supporting student success starts with community collaboration! I was thrilled to be part of the partnership between Reworld Waste and Pennsylvania Resources Council for the E-Waste Collection initiative, benefiting the students of STEM Academy at Showalter. Big kudos to the Bountiful Blessing Foundation and the Chester Senior Center for hosting on-site collections to support this meaningful effort. A major victory for the Reworld Milwaukee MPF team! Last month, the Milwaukee MPF implemented an impressive new process that compacts light & fluffy loads into easily manageable bales. This innovation will help the Milwaukee team boost outbound weights, reduce the number of outbound loads, and lower our carbon footprint. 130 yards of fluff or 2 outbound loads compressed into less than one-third of a load! #Innovation #Efficiency #Reworld #zerolandfill

Reworld? proudly observes America Recycles Day. In the past year, we recycled and reused over 1 million tons of materials, including 500,000 tons of metals and 280 million gallons of wastewater. Thanks to the efforts of our Sustainability ERG, our headquarters promotes waste separation with three bins in our kitchens, conference rooms, and printing rooms, plus an opt-in personal paper recycling bin for employees that actively source separate. The ERG also established a Recycling Resource center, to facilitate year-round e-waste collection. Together, we're making a sustainable impact! ????
