关于我们

Rewiring America is a growing nonprofit focused on electrifying our homes, businesses, and communities. Our world-class team develops accessible, actionable data and tools. We’re the conduit for Americans to achieve energy efficiency, tackle nationwide emission goals, improve health, save money and build the next generation of the clean energy workforce. We believe in an abundant, flourishing, climate-safe future, and know that, together, we can realize one. Founded in the summer of 2020, Rewiring America’s purpose is to make electrification simple, measurable, and inevitable. Every single opportunity to replace a car, water heater, furnace, dryer, cooktop, and even lawn equipment that runs on fossil fuels is an opportunity for electrification. We are committed to using the best data and analysis to build market-transforming partnerships and tell the stories of transformation and success that people will relate to, gravitate to, and want to join. We are outcomes-oriented, focused on achieving national emissions goals, improving our health, lowering monthly bills and creating millions of clean energy jobs. We know this is the decade that matters, and that our collective success winds through and depends on all of us.

Cat videos. Dolly Parton. Saving money. These are all things that make Americans happy. Here at Rewiring America, that last one — saving money — is top of mind. That’s why we’re excited to share the stories of people from across the country enjoying the real-life benefits of the tax credits they used thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). These IRA tax credits have helped people from coast to coast to buy heat pumps, electric water heaters, and lots of other cool energy saving machines. Check out their stories at the link in the comments. Got a story of your own that you’d like to share? Tell us about it in the comments, and we may reach out to you to hear more!

“Eliminating the 25C tax credit would mean fewer options for homeowners, higher taxes for families, and lost business opportunities for contractors like me.” That’s Bradley Stroot, the owner of Tuttle Heating and AC, a small HVAC contractor in Indiana. Since the 2005 25C Energy Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credit got expanded via the Inflation Reduction Act in 2022, Stroot’s business has gotten a boost. When homeowners save big on heat pumps and installation, contractors get plenty of work. “You don’t need to do this all at once. It’s really about just knowing what to do and making sure you have a plan for when that next appliance dies.” Meet Cora Wyent. As Rewiring America’s Research Director, Cora knows a thing or two about electric home appliances. So when almost all her gas-powered appliances suddenly stopped working, she seized the opportunity to switch to efficient, electric ones. From her induction stove to her heat pump, Cora isn’t just cutting her carbon emissions and lowering her energy bills. She’s also creating a safer, healthier home for her soon-to-arrive baby. And that’s what electric living is all about. Take a look inside Cora’s sunny, electric home in Los Angeles ??

Founder President and CEO, Rewiring America. Building the lower cost, bountiful future for everyone.

We are just about a month out from Tax Day, and I wanted to take a moment to sing the praises of the humble Energy Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credit — known to its fans as 25C. For those who are unfamiliar, the 25C tax credit helps Americans invest in energy-efficient insulation, doors, windows, water heaters and heating / cooling equipment. 25C is the “small but mighty” tax credit because of its overall efficiency, just like equipment it helps households afford. Low impact on the federal budget. Big benefits for families and communities. This week we learned just how mighty those benefits are: Rewiring America crunched the numbers and found that every dollar American households receive back on their taxes for installing energy-efficient equipment generates ten dollars in consumer demand. And this boost in consumer demand in turn supports 240,000 jobs nationwide. You might even know someone who works at one of these jobs, which include: - 37,000 domestic manufacturing jobs: the people working in the factories building the heating and cooling equipment and manufacturing insulation materials; - 21,000 domestic distribution jobs: the people driving the trucks delivering the materials to wholesale distributors and retail stores, and all the people working at those distributors and stores; - 41,000 local installation jobs: your friendly neighborhood HVAC or weatherization contractor; and - 143,000 jobs supporting each of these sectors. I am a big fan of the 25C tax credit for two reasons 1) it helps Americans invest in upgrades that can cut household energy bills by 30 percent, enough to wipe out the past four years of rising energy costs; and 2) homeowners who use it receive an average of $880 back on their taxes (just about enough to cover a family of four’s monthly grocery bill.) Check out the team’s full analysis here. https://lnkd.in/eAKk_Urv
