REWIRE is an Innovation and Knowledge Centre (IKC) funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and Innovate UK, both part of UK Research and Innovation, looking to develop pioneering semiconductor technologies and new electronic devices to accelerate the UK’s net zero ambitions. Our mission is to become the go-to centre of excellence nationally and internationally for next-generation power electronics by combining research excellence with technology translation and innovation, driven by industrial engagement and collaboration. We are aiming to transform the next generation of high voltage electronic wide and ultra-wide band gap compound semiconductor devices into the technologies of tomorrow, delivering new products to the market and economic growth for the UK semiconductor sector. The IKC will foster a collaborative, inclusive and innovative environment to nurture the next generation of semiconductor materials scientists and engineers. The REWIRE program is led by world-leading academic teams at the University of Bristol, the University of Cambridge and the University of Warwick, and has been co-created with industry partners across the breadth of the semiconductor supply chain. By combining academic expertise and capability with industry insights, we aim to reduce risks and accelerate the development of semiconductor technologies.

Alex joined the University of Bristol from UKRI, having worked as a Senior Policy Adviser on the delivery of UKRPIF and infrastructure research policy at Research England and a Portfolio Manager in the ICT team at EPSRC. At the latter, he developed strategic interventions for the Electronics research portfolio, including inputting to the UK Semiconductor Strategy and managing a range of key relationships across academia and industry. Our exhibit included examples from across the supply chain, including: ??? ?????? ???????????????????? before fabrication ?? ???????????? ?????? ?????????????? fabricated right here at Warwick ??? ????????-???????????? ?????????????? developed at Warwick ??? Commercial automotive and wind turbine ?????????? ?????????????? These examples demonstrate our capability from epitaxial growth to device design and fabrication, to reliability and testing.
