This leads to uninformed decisions and wasted time. Solution? ?? RevOnyx. The story told by our Founder... Hi, my name is Jeremy Steinbring and it's a pleasure to meet you! ?? My story is a unique one... Over the last decade, I've helped startups grow their revenue generation using technology and process improvement. From Marketing > Sales > Customer Success > Product, I'd seen just about every success and failure a growing company can have, which puts me in a very unique position to help leaders make some sizable improvements. ?????? ?? Improving operational efficiency by 15% - 35% ?? Removing tech stack bloat to simplify processes and save fleeting dollars ?? increasing revenue-generating potential to do more with less So, I thought to myself... "What if early-stage startups could see their future? "What if they could avoid the sure-to-come obstacles that would get in the way of increasing revenue?" "Why isn't there someone focused on guiding startups through these complicated tech issues?" But in late 2020, amidst all this thinking, everything changed. My wife and I welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Amelia, at the height of the Covid pandemic. At 8 days old, she was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, a rare genetic disease that affects only 40k people in the United States. Overnight, "Time" became that much more valuable to our family. The outcome? ? RevOnyx "Our Why" ?? We believe everything we do should be aimed at saving our most valuable resource: time. "Our How" ?? We save startups time by partnering with executives to leverage the power of RevOps. "Our What" ?? Using CRM & AI technology, we streamline processes and improve revenue potential. ??     RevOnyx celebrated a client leaving this week ??... (but it's not what you think) Here's the story... We've been engaging with a prominent company in the recruiting space and helping them with their #hubspot & #revops processes. They'd recently moved off of #salesforce and worked with a different firm to make the transition. It went horribly: ? Thousands of unusable & duplicate records imported ? Hundreds of legacy fields and misaligned processes ? Low CRM adoption and a lack of understanding how to gain value from it From the outside advisor's perspective, it's clear there was a misunderstanding of where the client was coming ????????, which is essential for where they were going ????. Unfortunately, it's a movie we are continuously forced to watch, over and over and over again. (This is why being experts in both CRMs, while having a "Strategy First" mindset is required... just saying ??♂?) The worst part is... ???????? ????*?? ??????'?? ??????????. Companies just like our client spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in licenses, consultants, in-house experts, training, troubleshooting, etc. When you have a situation like this, shock waves are sent through the organization ~ no one is happy. ?????? ????'???? ?????????????????????? ?????? ?? In under 6 months we were able to turn a costly weakness into a RevOps strength: Processes were improved. CRM optimized. Junk removed. But here's where we really made a difference... ? ?????????? ?????????? Deep down, they didn't believe success was possible. They'd been hurt by "experts" too many times before and were ready to throw in the towel. We communicated the hard stuff no one wanted to share and explained the "why it's important" message behind it. They knew we had their back and that we'd guide them down the right path, no matter how hard the reality. ? ?????????????? ?? ?????????? ???????????????? They are RevOnyx super fans now. They even asked us to meet in a few weeks for a social gathering with the strict mandate to avoid talking shop ~ we're more than just hired guns and they are more than just a customer. ? ?????????????????? ????????-?????????????????????? We took the time to teach them how do to what we do. They don't need us to be in it every day like we've been any longer. And that's the point... We're not after creating "?????????????????? ??????????????," we are after creating "?????????????????? ??????????." ? ???? ???????????? Our internal team was happy and had zero anxiety; I can't tell you how important that is for us and our clients. It was a high stakes engagement, but low levels of stress. We enjoyed every second of working with them! What started as a simple community message, turned into a huge success story and it couldn't have been done without a few key members of our team.     Implementing a #CRM yourself is kind of like putting Wayfair furniture together, alone, with the flimsy, included Alan wrench… It’s painful. It’s time consuming. It’s frustrating. It’s complicated. ?????? Sure, you can do it yourself, but what happens when you misunderstand the first step and use the wrong screws for the wrong pieces? You have to take it ALL apart and start over, hoping you didn’t strip any screws and have to spend more money at the hardware store. (This is my second attempt ????♂???) This is a low stakes example ~ in the end I’ll be eating Advil like skittles and enjoying the amazing PNW weather this evening ?????? But what if my inability to build this right the first time costs me thousands of dollars and hundreds of wasted hours? Doesn’t make sense to do it the hard way anymore does it? Save yourself the headache. Invest in the “professional installation.” #revops #salesforce #hubspot

    Frustrated with your #CRM & struggling to gather insights from your customer data? Read this...?? I've had the privilege of working in sales, marketing, CS, & product throughout the last 13 years. I've been in-house, a fractional consultant, & an agency owner. I've seen every angle of this story from every strategic & technical position. This is what I've learned... #?????? ???????????????????????? ?????????? ???? ?????? ?? ???????????????? ???????????????? ? Here's the reality... The world is moving to an integrated, highly automated, AI-enabled, & tech-centric business core. We'll see young companies especially require less human capital to generate higher levels of revenue than we've ever seen before. The "big picture" has gotten bigger and we can't rely on a single piece of technology any longer. So, the question is: "?????? ???? ???? ?????? ???????? ?????????? ???? ?????? ?????? ???? ???????? ?????????? ???????????" You don't just need a #hubspot expert You don't just need a #salesforce expert You don't just need a full-time admin You don't just need a strategic consultant You don't just need a #revops course ~ "how to fix all your problems in 60 days" You don't just need a business systems strategist (How are we going to afford all of this? ??) You need a single entity, that can deliver on the 3 core requirements of any RevOps transformation... ?????? + ???????? ?????????? + ???????????? ???????????????? = ? Here's how you know you need help... 1?? ?????? ???????????????????????? ? I don't trust my data or what the reporting is telling me ? I can't find the right information when it's needed ? I've gone back to offline Excel & Google Sheets ? I feel like my CRM makes things more complicated, it's not helping me 2?? ???????????????????? ???????? ?????????? ? I have to manually update information in all my tools to keep them up to date ? I spend a lot of time troubleshooting system errors that land in my email inbox ? I don't know how data is being sent from one system to another ? I feel like I'm spending a fortune and it's not worth the investment 3?? ???????????? ???????????????? & ???????????????? ? I see a breakdown in how GTM teams communicate and deliver value to customers ? I feel misalignment amongst team leaders and it seems we are all rowing in different directions ? I don't have a clear understanding of how we are operating as a business ? I can't tell if we are going to hit our revenue goals or not All of these issues are intertwined and have to be tackled together. Ping-pong'ing between hiring FTEs and single-offering specialists isn't efficient (or affordable). RevOnyx is on a mission to break the cycle of old habits and redefine the way we go-to-market.     A #revops team org structure shouldn't be based on title... It should be based on ???????? ????????????????. ?? Put yourself in the shoes of a Founder ~ you've been considering joining the RevOps Revolution and you're thinking it's the fastest way to profitability without adding headcount. So you decide, "It's time to start hiring RevOps people. We should add a RevOps Manager." The job description looks something like this: ? 10+ years of Sales Ops experience ? 6+ years Marketing experience ? #Salesforce Certified Admin (Advanced admin preferred, no hiring manager knows the difference it just sounds cooler) ? 8+ years in a director+ role ? Willing to work in an exciting, fast-paced environment (?? couldn't help myself) ? Familiar with tech stack tools like ZoomInfo, Chili Piper, Cacheflow ? Able to build reports & analyze data via Business Intelligent tools ? Training of GTM team members regarding process changes & new tools On and on and on and on... (Hybrid, somewhere in Montana. 65K starting ~ again, couldn't help myself) ?????? ??????????????? ???????? ???????????? ??????????'?? ??????????. We can't assume 1 person can handle all of this and operate at the quality that we expect. Rather than rolling the entire RevOps job into a single role, think about the RevOps team in Role Functions. When you have the budget for hiring a single RevOps resource you have to think about which Role Functions are most crucial and which should be covered first, second, etc. In the diagram below, we see a traditional GTM team on the left & a RevOps team on the right: ?????? ???????? ?? Siloed by Marketing, Sales, & Customer Success ?? Department heads and teams dedicated to that dept. ?? Department specific Ops managers ???????????? ???????? ?? 4 Main Categories or Role Functions: ????????????????, ??????????????????, ??????????????, & ???????????????????? Here's how I'd recommend filling out the team if I were building from scratch.... ???????? ??: ???????????? ???????????? - (Yellow Lane Focus) jack-of-all-trades that has the experience to accomplish 80% of all roles well, but is a strategic thinker first. Capable of leading teams and carrying the flag. Dotted line to the Ops managers for each GTM team. ???????? ??: ?????????????? ???????????? - (Pink Lane) This is where we start to specialize; think CRM admin, RevOps tool integrator, Marketing Automation pro. and so on... ???????? ??: ???????? ???????????? - (Salmon? Lane) Reports, Dashboards, Data Analytics, etc. ???????? ??: ???????????????????? ???????????? - (Purple Lane) Training, Documentation, etc. Outcome = Each role you fill splits the work and specializes the person doing it at a rate you can afford ?? ?????? ?????????? ???? ????????????????... ?? ???? ?????????? ?????? ???????????? ???? ????????, ?????? ???????? ???????? ???????? ????????????????. ?????? ?????????? ?????????? ???????? ???????????? ???????? ???? ?????? ???????? ???????????? ?????? ??????????????.

    Moving from #???????????????????? > #?????????????? can be a fantastic move, but every decision comes at a cost. Here are some of my top "gotchas" to consider... 1?? ?????????????????? Reporting at first glance is solid in HubSpot, but it lacks the same flexibility you'll be used to in Salesforce. An example is row level formulas & row/column totals; being able to sum the data set at each column and adding mathematical equations to calculate percentages. You'll have the basics, but there will be reports you NEED that you can't replicate without plugging in another system. (Back to Excel / Google Sheets ??) ?? Recommendation: Trial Databox as an alternative; really easy to use and the connection with HubSpot comes out of the box. (No affiliation here, just a kick ass product ??) 2?? ???????????????? & ???????????????????? For you admins or GTM leaders that take on CRM administration on your own, you're in for a big un-learning curve. Yes, Workflows in HubSpot are user-friendly and you'll pick it right up, but as soon as you start building you'll understand my point... ~ ???????????? ?? ???????????????? ?????? ????????????:??If you have to update 15 properties after the trigger, you'll be clicking and scrolling forever. ~ ????????????: You'll have to introduce delay actions in your logic to allow HubSpot to catch up making other changes to the record. ~ ???? ???????????????? ???????????????? ??: You can't use math in your workflows, so if you wanted to multiply MRR to get ARR or do nested If statements (CASE Function), you're out of luck. Example: If Dropdown (Picklist) Property = "January," calculate a percentage of MRR based on company ramping... ? You'll instead have to create a calculated property for each month of the year (individual formula fields), then build a workflow with a new branch for each month and logic to update the ARR property. Time difference for setup: 5 minutes in Salesforce vs. 60 minutes in HubSpot ?? Recommendation: Consider using both HubSpot & Salesforce together and use each for their strengths. Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too? ????♂? 3?? ?????????????????? ???????????????? This is probably the one that's most detrimental. HubSpot Academy is a fantastic place to learn about HubSpot, but it can't compete with Trailhead for Salesforce IMO. You'll learn about HubSpot features and general Marketing & Sales principles, but you won't see guided walkthrough of real life use cases. This means searching the web/blogs/Reddit for answers and workarounds for hours. ?? Recommendation: Join Slack communities like Sprocketeer for questions and getting real world advice. (Or just work with RevOnyx, so you don't have to worry about any of this ??) --- Hi, I'm Jeremy Steinbring ?? ~ nice to meet you! ??
