In honor of Women’s History Month, we wanted to put the spotlight on another Community Partner, Revolution Workshop! Revolution Workshop (RW) is a nonprofit whose goal is to create pathways in the construction industry for Black and Brown Community Members. They run 2 programs aimed at training individuals in different construction or construction management skills with the goal of obtaining a career in the construction industry. We interviewed RW’s Janea’ Riley, Director of Pre-Apprenticeship Programs, and Shelby Swope, Program Manager: Professional Pathways, to hear about the importance of amplifying Black women’s voices in trades and professions that have historically been male-dominated. Janea’ stated: “Amplifying Black women’s voices in the construction industry not only enhances the diversity and inclusivity of the field but also leads to greater innovation, mentorship, and equitable growth within the industry.” Shelby echoed that sentiment: “Amplifying Black women's voices in RW’s work isn’t just important - it's necessary. Black women bring valuable perspectives, leadership, and innovation to the construction and project management space, yet their contributions are often overlooked. By intentionally creating space for their voices, we ensure more inclusive decision-making, stronger mentorship pipelines, and a more equitable industry overall. It’s about recognizing expertise, breaking barriers, and making sure the next generation sees representation at every level.” To learn more about Revolution Workshop’s necessary work, visit revolutionworkshop.org. They are keen to foster new partnerships and relationships with other businesses and nonprofits on the South and West sides of Chicago, as well as recruiting individuals to join their programs. Happy #WomensHistoryMonth!

This week, we joined Chicago Women In Trades for “Trades Women Take Over Springfield,” advocating for HR 161 - a resolution reaffirming Illinois’ commitment to expanding workforce opportunities in the trades through equity, accountability and investment. We had the privilege of meeting with State Representatives Williams, Hernandez, Mah and many others to discuss why this resolution is critical for ensuring everyone, regardless of background, has access to a thriving career in the skilled trades. Our voices were heard and we believe our advocacy was successful! #RevolutionWorkshop #CWIT Jawaharial Omarr Williams #RepElizabethHernandez #RepTheresaMah #TradesWomen #HR161 #Equity #Workforce

Exciting news from RW! This fall, we moved our Social Enterprise Woodshop to the building adjacent to our East Garfield Park training facility. The need for additional dedicated space for this unique programming was apparent as we continue to grow and expand. When the former car wash space became available - we snatched it up! ?????? After several months of hard work, our woodshop is near completion! Our transitional alumni employees are hard at work making 64 barricades, which will be distributed to 12th and 33rd ward Chicago Public Schools. ?? Our woodshop makes custom wood products with a purpose! ?????? Check out our website to see some examples of the beautiful work we can do. Your purchase helps support our mission: https://lnkd.in/gUSA8UKV #ChicagoPublicSchool #RevolutionWorkshop #Woodshop #SocialEnterprise #EastGarfieldPark #Chicago #Construction #Alumni

Our alumni have had the unique experience of working with two master tradespeople on some exciting upskill workshops restoring our Roseland facility! Four select alumni wrapped up a week-long window restoration workshop with Jim Turner of Turner Restoration in Detroit. Participants restored 5 historic windows in our 1925 building and gained exposure into a specialized trade not many people know how to do! Another group of Five alums were selected to work with renowned plasterer, Ryan Buman, to learn the basics of this historic trade while restoring the original beauty of our classroom space. The group has learned how to secure and patch the ceiling and how to make and run a mold to restore the damaged decorative elements. Our Building Futures Campaign is still live! Donate today to help support these opportunities for our alumni; https://lnkd.in/gz8bj3g6 #PullmanNationalHistoricalPark #DriehausFoundation #NationalTrustForHistoricPreservation #HistoricPreservationEducationFoundation #RevolutionWorkshop #TAWANIFoundation #BuildingFutures #Chicago #Construction #Alumni
